Ghostbusters III to be CGI. Tex Next?
Here is a link to a recent Canadian radio interview with Dan Aykroyd confirming that Ghostbusters 3 will be made and shockingly made using 3D animation. It is split into 3 parts but I went right to the part that matters. Feel free to listen to all 3 parts if you're just a Dan Aykroyd fan.

My being a huge Ghostbusters fan as a kid has me both excited and torn as to whether or not it will be a good movie. I love CG animation and I am a computer animator myself (been using 3D Studio Max for 8 years but still teaching myself all the time.) I am sure I will like the movie regardless but truthfully it will lose a little of that old nostalgic feeling. I am ready to accept the next evolution of it as I would much rather have this than nothing at all. Truthfully I think I would have prefered to see this delivered in video game format to kind of rekindle the childhood "play" aspect, however, there is indeed a Ghostbusters game in the works as well, but I will pay real money to go see it in theaters too.
Now having said all that, I can see Tex also following this same path if we are ever to see our beloved sleuth in anything ever again. Granted a game would be SO cool in CGI that I couldn't contain my glee, but could we also dare to dream that there be a 3D Tex Murphy movie? I would definately go to see that one. I dunno is anyone else as excited about the thought of either of these things as I am? Lemme know what you guys think.

Oh god no! It won't be the same. It was the crappy special effects that made Ghost busters unique. I'm voting it'll suck.. especially if Egon isn't in it.
Hollywood is forking stupid with all its Remakes.. WHERE THE HELL IS THE ORIGINALITY PEOPLE! I mean seriously, I'm bored out of my brains at the moment with $#it house 10min Casual gamer games and a whole series of crappy movie remakes. I've gone back to watching the classics. (just got a copy of Metropolis (1927) the other day, a brilliant original film.)
Creative industry SUCKS at the moment because there isn't any creativity anymore, just a bunch of ripoffs and remakes.

I'm really skeptical of this being a 3D movie. I guess I'm a little bitter when it comes to all this 3D animation because animation studios seem so obsessed with them right now that 2D animated stuff seems to be being shelved alot (I still go see 3D animated movies though and enjoy them). But yeah I'm still not sure they've quite got it right yet for rendering people in a totally life-like way. I think alot of the personality and the charm that the original actors had would be lost.... and even if they tried to 'copy' the actors styles it still is a poor comparison as a human actor can always surprise you but a 3D render just has pre-defined values. I would of lvoed more Ghostbuster movies but thats back when they were relatively new and the actors could of still been in them. Now I just don't think its necessary. I'm a little skeptical about the new Indiana Jones film (If its still gonna happen that is) too but at least Harrison is still gonna be Indiana, if they had a replacement or a 3D render I would of been even more concerned but either way I still have to wodner if there's really a need after all this years.... both Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones should of had their sequels years and years ago.

First they should be fixing Virtual Reality to Simulated Reality before even considering replacing Actors. And it should be considered an INSULT to an actors abilities to be asked to do an animated feature - unless they are actively working on a mo-cap set. (because its just like real acting minus the props and set - TM has proven that this method works quite well. Which might mean Mo-Cap being used in Trance still - I sure forking hope so!)
But yeah, once they figure out how to evolve near Simulated reality graphics but until then I think we should be sticking to Ye Old Human actors - rather than CG Actors. Also TM could easily just hire no name actors - if anything it'd be more immersed, because I'm sick and tired of seeing films featuring KNOWN actors all the time, it ruins the character most of the time. (Michale York in Overseer was terrible because I kept having flashes to Logan's Run and Austin Powers "Thats a Man... Man... WHY WONT THIS WIG COME OFF!") it sorta destroys the character. Hence why Chris Jones will ALWAYS be Tex Murphy, and that'll never change. (if it did, the character would be destroyed ALA Star Wars Prequel Trilogy)

I dunno, I mean a little criticism goes needs to be handed out to movies, but to say that the prequel trilogy was destroyed? Utterly crap? I enjoyed the prequel trilogy myself. I'm not old enough to have been around when the original star wars trilogy was released, but I've seen it, and the new ones, and frankly ... I like the prequel trilogy better. But I'm also of a new ultra high definition surround sound generation. To me, seeing a space battle between Obi-wan and Anakin overtop coruscaunt, with the speakers on high is a lot more fun then any of the space battles combined from the first one. The first one had such clever dialouge as "get on top of it!" "I'm trying!" ... "punch it chewie!"
I just can't see how someone can be so jaded to the whole movie scene now a days. It's full of remakes and whatnot, but it's in demand, and I for one love it. I don't think I'm going to enjoy a black and white "talky" flick on a 65 inch 1080p TV. So an update of the movie, redone for this generation is just what the doctor ordered.
I just had to pipe in here, because it's really weird how radically different my opinion on movies and entertainment in general are. I am excited for Indiana Jones. I'm excited for Ghostbusters. Shrek 3? Bring it on, I want more of Donkey! All the while 300, Transformers, Spiderman 3 are coming ... It's an exciting movie year for me. I mean after all, it's only 7.50 cents, and if your three hours spent in the theatre weren't enjoyable for the low price you paid to watch the millions of dollars of effort put into a presentation for you to watch ... because it wasn't original enough, or it wasn't this, or it wasn't that ... They still do theatre stage productions, with no name casts, and original scripts. It costs them a lot less to do them. Or you can, as you said, stick to the older classics. I just think that the newer movies aren't *that* awful, and don't deserve the venom they get. I envision these people pouring all the energy and work into these projects .. big portions of their lives ... and then they see there work get shot down, disected, and picked apart. It's going to happen I know, that's the nature of the critic ... It's just sad sometimes.
Two cents added.
This wasn't the superpost either. It's being postponed ... the developer of the post is pushing back the shipping date due to quality assurance issues. ETA - spring.

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
