L.A. Noir?

Have you heard of this game?

Apparently it is being developed by the GTA people allowing freedom of travel throughout the game and the investigation.
As far as gameplay goes there is much potential from these guys.
As far as story goes - it will need to many levels higher and complicated than thier usual gang/turf wars...

Anyone hear about this project?

I do believe I read that it is being designed by the guy who was in charge of The Getaway, so no telling if it'll be awesome or aggravating.

I'm really looking forward to it either way. I think it's safe to say people on this board are suckers for classic detective stories.

Me, I've read all of Chandler's novels about four times over.
I've heard of it about a year ago from last years E3, there was a preview for it on in one of the magazines I bought at the time. From what I saw it was just the cut scenes.. but they were very high quality - much better than what you'd expect from Rockstar. Here is hoping that this game is the new Detective equivalent to the game Mafia :D We bloody need a game like this.
The trailer is probably a promo reel. At such an early stage, the first CG scenes are usually renders of potential gameplay footage, or else teasers like the MGS4 clips or the "audition" for Heavy Rain.
Or like those new Star Wars Next Gen videos that just scream of pure Bullshit.

PS Heavy Rain sucks.. We want Omikron2 Damnit!
I think this game looks promising. If RS can bring a compelling game to market, it might reopen the genre.
I think this is is going to be great!

I liked GTA/Vice City!

And they have the budget to do it!
