Trying to find the Ritz and Chandler Ave

Now, I know that Chandler Ave doesn't exist, and that there isn't a Ritz hotel anywhere in San Francisco, however on a whim I decided to see if I could find the best closest match to the existing city streets.

The only information that I had to go on is that he lives in the shadow of Coit Tower, and that the street comes to 'T' intercection. Based on that I'm guessing that he lives on the corner of Genoa Place and Filbert Street. Ironically, that area (when I was last there several years ago) was a rather run down and seedy spot and I seriously thought about looking for a greasy spoon there named Louie's. That idea was dropped quickly at the thought of parking my RX-7 only to have me come back to a stripped frame.

Could kinda hope that the buildings were all there, but reality sucks like that sometimes.
Cool idea. I looked up the intersection you mentioned, and I'd actually say that the northern end of Montgomery St would probably be the best bet. That way, if we assume that the Golden Gate Hotel is on the north end facing south...

*It ends in a dead-end to the north, which matches with the games, and if we figure that the cross-street at the other end of Chandler Avenue, (by the Brew & Stew) is Filbert St, it would even be about the right length.

*It orients Coit Tower on the correct side, (to the left if one faces the GGH), and places it about level with the Hotel, which matches the games.

*The tower to the west and the trees and smaller buildings to the north and east explain why Chandler Ave. seems to be so solitary, with nothing happening on nearby streets.

Those are my thoughts. Here is the map I was working with. What do you think?

When I was twelve my father took my brother and I to San Francisco. My brother and I had just finished playing Under a Killing Moon together for the first time, so we were naturally ecstatic at the thought of seeing Chandler Avenue in real life...we didn't want our father to know of our silly quest, so instead we convinced him we wanted to go see Coit Tower...while he was checking out the tower itself, my brother and I ran around back expecting to see a hot-dog stand and a trail leading down to Chandler Avenue, Rusty's, the Brew'n Stew...the Ritz...needless to say we were disappointed. The whole experience ruined my life; made me who I am today. Tex was my Santa, and he died that day...

Bests, Rockefeller

It could work as the spot, though, nothing really lines up perfectly. I just figure that after WWIII there area was redone to the setting it has in the games. Shame too, I could really go for a bowl of Louie's Spicey chili or Lamb stew.

Next time I go into the city (at least once in the next decade, I seriously get claustrophobic there, it feels like the buildings are closing in on ya.) I'll take a look around the area and gets a better 'eyes on the ground' look.
