I Think I'm In Heaven...
Well, as some of you may know, I have a fascination with the
"Golden Era" as some call it. Mainly the 1930's-1940's. In some ways, I feel like Tex in that I was born in the wrong century/decade, whatever.
Aside from Tex, and my real life job, I have a fascination with anything detective, film noir, etc. I also collect old antiques ranging from rotary dial telephones from the 1930's, to the old style fans with metal blades, to antique wristwatches and pocketwatches, to phonographs and radios, and lighters. As well as old time radio shows ranging from comedy to detective, mystery, horror.
Anyway, I was in my local hat shop just yesterday. A friend of mine commented that he really liked my new "newscap" style hat (I have also heard it called a Devon), and that he wanted to get one. I'm slowly getting to a first name basis with the owner of this shop, as its one of the very few places to get a fedora or other hat in ABQ.
Anyway, while I was there, he commented to me about an online forum basically dedicated to everything vintage: from fedoras, to furniture, electronics, cars, WWII etc. Just thought I'd share the link with everyone encase anyone else had an intense passion. Seems to be a very fun site for the few hours I've been a memeber.

Would be cool to see some of you guys over there...let me know what you think.

Ye gods... I'm trying so hard not to make a JTOG/vintage-joke over here!!
Looks cool! I love vintage items, especially the way they dressed back then, and the old phones. Just look at The Big Sleep (the one with Bogart and Bacall), those suits are just suh-weet! No wonder people automatically said 'Sir' and referred to men as 'gentlemen' back then, they dressed the part! And the ladies, hey! Chapter of it's own! I'm with you man, the golden era rocked!
*Looks sheepishly at Jim and offers the Geritol Of Friendship*
Another thing I love about the golden era - the way they talked in movies. The kinda fast banter that you never, ever hear in modern movies.
CLICHÉ-WARNING!
They just don't make'em like they used to!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
