Could the next Tex game be a point 'n' click style game?

I'm a multimedia & graphic designer plus hobby illustrator.
For programming I know Flash Actionscript / XHTML / CSS mainly.

My post in the other thread stands the same for any project here:
"If something got off the ground I might pitch in a few pennies. I say cents/pennies because I'm hesitant to promise too much as it really depends on time because of work along with my own personal projects that I'd like to do and of course that thing called life that throws a few spanners in the works too.
You can see what kind of stuff I do/have to offer on my portfolio website and Deviantart account:

My post on the other thread also echoes James' opinion "start small". Get at least 1 project finished then go after bigger fish once spirits are high after a successful win.

Best of luck.

Malloy is making a good point. Lets just wait for this topic to die down and then make a third topic in a short period of time about making a fan Tex game.

I just know we'll get this thing off the ground around the third time we make a topic about it!
my advice would be to wait until most of us get the time to do something like this :D (which from the looks of things will be a year or two away.)

I'll try to whip up some concept art for Tex (sprites) while I'm doing Neuromancer. Once Neuromancer is done and looks good I could quite easily alter it to work like Tex Murphy (UAKM,PD). After that its just a matter of producing a quick demo and hope Aaron agrees to finnish the voice acting. (doubt it though given the cost)

Looks like we've got a new member of the "Pulling A Cub, club."

Welcome Thaurin, and may you be proud to be part of an elite few.
Crud, I should've remembered to post last night! Of course, I was too Cubbed out to actually even think about pulling a Cub, so... does that count? :D

5 dollars.. get outta here :D
Wow, I don't even remember posting that. What was I trying to say? I know there's some kind of message in there.
I'll give it a go:

I read some letters and I [Misspelled 'I' twice and gave up]

No wait. [Misspelled 'No wait' and gave up]

NO WAIT ... I AM PRETTY DRUNK AND I READ SOME LETTERS [Almost fully legible, probably concentrated hard for this]

AND I will like give a demo with [illegible] never mind

[Completely illegible] today.

The interesting bit is you manage to write a complete sentence of complete gibberish and you finish with the word 'today' completely correct. That's astounding man :D Well done!

Although an educated guess would be you were trying to post something about a demo, and gave up because you know you weren't making sense, and told us you'd be back later today, or something in that ballpark.

My brain is still garbled from yesterday. I see attempts at trying to fry sausages on the oven (and judging from the amount of charcoaled pieces of meat in the garbage, I failed miserably) and I hear rumors of disturbing pictures having been taken. Next time instead of alcohol I'll just fire a flaregun up my nose and hope for the same effect :P

But as for this potential project, i'm thinking on using some elements from the official radio installments by Aaron and Chris. I like the idea of starting it off in the old, seedy house.
You know, that's a fantastic idea. I wish I had thought of it.

How would people feel if we took the Radio Theater script, word for word, as a starting point for a game? We would all know the basic story and how it ends, but in order to make a game out of it, we'd have to add things like puzzles, and other obstacles that the player would have to negotiate in order to advance the game.

Advantage:
The main game script would be derived from the expert writing of the official Tex Murphy source including location descriptions and dialog (perfect for a text adventure adaption.)

Disadvantage:
We all know the story already, so it might be too easy.

Comment:
Last year, I made a short demo game based on Chapter 11 (if I remember correctly) of the Pandora Directive. Everyone knew the story, but still had difficulty winning the game, so maybe it doesn't matter too much if we know the story ahead of time.

Man, I wish I had thought of that when I had lots of time for this. My writing skills are terrible so I was begging somebody, anybody for a good story to base a game on. The Radio Theater script was sitting there all the time. Arrgghhhh! Why didn't I think of that?

Kudos to Joel.
I definitely intend on making changes to the script for the reason you stated, we know how it goes. But the settings and characters can definitely remain with some of the plot events.

Does anyone have a transcript of the radio theatre?
