Tex mentioned in Podcast

I thought some of you here would like a link to the recent Australian Gamer Podcast in which our favorite P.I. is briefly mentioned.

Okay like I said, he is only brought up briefly but the reference was glowing. Further evidence that Tex has not receded from many gamers thoughts.

We ALL want more Tex!

:)
I agree with him. The world needs more Tex Murphy.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Seems like Australia might be Tex's vacation home, or something like that. Seems to be quite a bit of interest in him there. Maybe he has a brother there?. . .Sydney Murphy, perhaps?
Never too late for coffee, never too early for beer.
Sydney Murphy, rugged outback hero and professional knitter of socks, scarves and those cute little tea-pot hats!

Yes-sirree, ol' Sydney can thread a boomerang through a koala's butt at 800 yards and whip you up a fashionably correct pair of socks before it returns!

Cousin Perth is the black sheep of the family. He moved to New Zealand.

Syd Murphy has a nicer ring to it.

Most excellent, Fred! Really Rich!

I especially like the sheep and New Zealand references. Nice touch.

The reason why tex is so popular is because for some strange reason Access supplied tons of copies of UAKM to Australia (I recall going into several major retailers where they had a wall of the game's boxes :D)

UAKM was a massive success here in Australia, you only have to look at the reviews.. I wish I could show you some of them but I can't find them at present. However good things were said :D

When the $50 double feature pack came out the game sold even quicker. I was able to get both the original UAKM and the double pack with Pandora in it. I never got Overseer because even into 2001 the game still cost $110 and hadn't been marked down. Which made no sense.

I still remember getting the double pack and going "fork DAMN THAT'S A LOT OF DISCS FOR $50" Best $50 I've ever spent.
