ROAD TRIP!!
Or rather; the soundtrack. I'd love to hear (literally) what you people would listen to if you were to go on a long, LONG drive. What tunes would you put on?
Ever noticed how some songs are just better on the road?
Gimme your lists people! What's on the menu for that long drive cross-country?

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Great topic idea, Fred! I'll get us started.
1. Weather with you (Crowded House)
2. Roll with it (Oasis)
3. Ticket to ride (The Beatles)
4. Rebel Rebel (David Bowie)
5. My Generation (The Who)
6. Beautiful Day (U2)
7. Handle with care (Travelling Wilbury's)
8. King of Pain (The Police)
9. Runnin' down a dream (Tom Petty)
10. Sure thing (St Germain)
11. Can't you hear my knocking (The Rolling Stones)
12. Life is a highway (Tom Cochrane)
13. Tonight Tonight (The Smashing Pumkins)
14. Leaps and bounds (Paul Kelly)
15. Unfinished Sympathy (Massive Attack)
16. Woodstock (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young)
17. Subterranean homesick blues (Bob Dylan)
18. You Got it (Roy Orbison)
19. The memory remains (Metallica)
20. Open Road (Bryan Adams)
I could add many more, but I feel more than 20 is getting greedy. It would be my dream to get the members of this board together for an Australian road trip!
If only....

I don't know if I'll get the names of the bands or songs right, but if you heard them you'll get the general idea. These are actual selections from some of my mix CDs I use in my car. I'm a weird one.
My first CD
1.) Come Sail Away - Styxx
2.) Hash Pipe - Weezer
3.) Bad Boys - The Cops song (It's a hit when you get pulled over. Play it loud enough, and the cop will strut to your car. True story.)
4.) Weird Al Yankovich - Grapefruit Diet (My favorite parody ever! A parody of zoot suit riot by the cherry poppin daddies)
5.) The Imperial March from Star Wars
6.) Down with the Sickness - Disturbed
7.) Triple H's WWE entrance music - Motorhead
8.) Gave Up - NIN
9.) Handel's Messiah - Handel (You know, the hallaleighluya song!)
10.) Evil Woman - Electric Light Orchestra
11.) Beds are Burning - Midnight Oil
12.) Aerials - System of a Down
13.) Honky Tonk Badonkadonk - I have no idea, but I heart this song
14.) Travis Tritt - T R O U B L E
15.) Smooth - Santana and that other guy
16.) Fast Car - Tracy Chapman
17.) Holla Back Girl - Gwen Stefani (I don't know if I ever told you, but my brother and I went through a construction zone really slow blasting this on my system doing some wicked dances. We were tards, but it was hilarious. )
18.) My Band - D12 (Eminems rap group)
19.) One Winged Angel Advent Children Remix - Final Fantasy (Sounds badass really loud ...)
20.) A classical Piece; very popular .. .have no idea who it's from. Beethoven probably.
21.) And finally the last song I could fit on the cd burn ... Istanbul by They Might Be Giants!

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
I guess I should add 20 OR LESS, just so's you poor folks don't stress about finding another 19 songs to add your 2 cents

That Robot is soo cool
Thanks man, been looking all over for that song (Safety Dance). Didn't know the name of the band or the song.
But no, it's NOT the one that torments the hell out of me. That's a different song.
Cheers!
Also - more music for the road!!
I'm adding Foghat - Slow Ride to the list, by the way!

Well, I can't pick individual songs. I like to take a collection of cd's with me. I prefer a variety of selections. . .
like. . .
1) James Taylor
2) CD recordings of my son's various band and solo performances (ok, you're looking for suggestions, and you couldn't get these, but you asked what I would take
)
3) Beatles (especially the white album, but also early and mid stuff)
4) Smooth jazz
5) Some classic rock (especially ZZ Top)
6) Joni Mitchell: Blue (I have a strong attachment to that album)
7) Die Meistersinger (Wagner opera (Hey! It's a long trip!))
I'm going to stop at seven because (1. Why do we need to have ten, and 2. I think this list gets me to Albuquerque (and then I turn left. . .right, Bugs?))
