Look what I can do!
Nice
If only I had the 3D model of Tex, I had which we were going to use for Oracle. Ah I wonder if anyone I sent the images to still have pics of the model as I reckon it was cool. heh

Personally, I favour XVID. Doom9 has a few good config guides.rockefeller wrote:The quicktime is 889MB, the avi is 747MB, the mpg is 37.5MB.

Well, I am a quality freak, if it is compressed, I don't like. Don't suppose you could burn that AVI version on a CD and swing it my way? It would be a nice edition to my Tex Media collection...rockefeller wrote:The quicktime is 889MB, the avi is 747MB, the mpg is 37.5MB.

(Actually, I have been meaning to compose a remake of the access software theme now that I have a symhpony orchestra at my disposal!
I will foot the postage bill if you want.

I'm not to keen on sharing uncompressed, original material just like that...who knows where it may end up...
Perhaps we can reach a compromise...PM me...

Nice, rockefeller!
I'll host for you if you just share it here, only (at that size). you should compress it better, though.
I'm into modelling and animation, too - stil have 4 weeks till the term is over. Maybe afterwards I'll work on a Tex model. Would the people here skin me alive for treading on sacred ground?

Fantastic job! If you're going to produce more then I can't wait to see them.

Haha, well technically the video is still property of Access software (being a replica) and so putting you name on it is already an infringement on copyright... but I understand where you are coming from, and I am more than certain the Access boys don't mind becuase they (like most others) love the idea of fan paying homage to their work.rockefeller wrote:I'm not to keen on sharing uncompressed, original material just like that...who knows where it may end up...

It's a damn good replica, and so close to the original it's amazing.

Thanks Again for the compliments guys
It's been a long time since I've done anything in 3D, but I think the time is coming for some new stuff...
I may be a little paranoid, but I've had people use my work as their own in the past for self-promotion, so I'd rather play it safe than be sorry.
Should anyone ever make a new movie or game tribute to Tex Murphy, I'd be more than happy to share the fully uncompressed version of this for use as an intro. Wasn't SamSpade making a movie once upon a time? And what about ChrisM?
By the way, does anyone feel have an idea for a short 3d film? I'm wanting to make a short, noirish 3D movie that has the humor of Tex Murphy, and that would contain several references to that world, but no reference to Tex Murphy directly...perhaps his persona though. Thing is, I'm a sucky writer, but if anyone has any ideas for a short, humorous, concise piece, and feels like writing, I'll see if I could adapt it into 3D and put your name on it
Nothing too complex though

I suppose I never thought of the fact that I used your remastered music that you were kind enough to share with everyone - I do suppose I can place a pretty decent mpeg version online somewhere for you to download for your collection.Cubase wrote:Haha, well technically the video is still property of Access software (being a replica) and so putting you name on it is already an infringement on copyright... but I understand where you are coming from, and I am more than certain the Access boys don't mind becuase they (like most others) love the idea of fan paying homage to their work.rockefeller wrote:I'm not to keen on sharing uncompressed, original material just like that...who knows where it may end up...

I would love to collaborate on a short! Been wanting to for ages. I would love to help out with character and environment design and writing, but I don't have any time for 3D or animation these days... (I can probably help with animation if everything's already rigged).
Wanna work on it publicly here in this thread, or work via IM? How long of a film were you thinking? Whats your software and skills?

You can check out some of my older movies on my site, http://www.masterbjorn.com/ - They're under '3D'. My skills have improved a bit since then, however.
I am a huge fan of 3D Studio Max, which is my software of choice.
I would love to collaborate with anyone interested, though a team shouldn't be too big.
I already have a class mate on my team, though she isn't that familiar with 3D so she'll need a little training.
If anyone feels they can contribute, either with writing, drawing concepts, modeling, animation, sound, editing, or post production, show me a sample of your work and I'll see what I can do. Any collaboration effort will receive credit.
The piece should be short, and tasks shouldn't be to be too general. I think any help can be task specific, and long term commitment optional. So if the story involves a sinister bunny lizzard wearing an ipod, maybe someone good at concept art could throw out a sketch, and that could be his/her contribution. Then he/she could contribute more if he/she had time, or felt like it.
I'm thinking and hoping no longer than 3-4 minutes, and I want the textures, renders, models, lighting to be spectacular. Photorealistic caricatures, if you get what I'm saying.
So if anyone wants in, PM me and we can get in touch. Right now I need a story, or at least ideas for one. I can start a new thread and everyone who posts can come up with maybe three simple short ideas for a short 3d piece, and then we can all vote on our favorite - what do you say?
