Revival Option

Game Tap has been on a roll reviving a load of old games and setting them up to run under their web based system.

They took an MMORPG Uru and are using it to spear head a change in gaming distribution.

Bearing in mind if you are in Europe it's not all operational yet, but it is available in the US Canada and UK

A lot of the games are basic but they have ported some that would be considered high end.

Games range from DOS text based stuff right through to the Tomb Raider franchise.

Tex would be ripe for this kind of treatment.

I am not twisting anybody's arm here but that petition thats been floating around it may not do any harm to point it at Game Tap.

These are people who care about games do we realy have anything to loose. I for one at least would like to play the full series through without having to load a virtual machine.
First and foremost, welcome to the Tex community, J'Kla. We warmly envelope those who post here.

Second, I, too, would like to see your suggestion come to fruition. Because I lack computer skills I am unable to play UAKM and PD on my XP. Some here have been able to do that but I am just not technically inclined.

Hope you post more often.

Has anyone heard from Chris or Aaron? They've historically been pretty active in the tex community, but neither has been heard from in a while.
UAKM and PD won't work in XP, you need to use a DOS emulator called DosBox. If you are using a CD drive to play the game you can just mount it straight from the drive using the MOUNT D D:\ and then MOUNT C C:\
This will let you install UAKM and PD in Dos mode fine. Getting it to run is tricky you need to know the exact Cycles needed to run the game smoothly and they both differ. I am yet to find the perfect UAKM cycle speed but PD runs pretty fine a 20000, though this differs from computer to computer. Cycles can be adjusted manually though its easier to use the Config.ini file to adjust it.

Dos box isn't hard to use and the only case I would justify UAKM on XP is if they re-released it with new features and graphics.
I have got back into Tex since the Dos Box has helped me, on my XP even with Duel processors. It was wonderful to start the game all over again and go through each game. Thanks for "google" and getting me the Dos Box!

Can't wait till the new adventure of Tex is out.

Love it. :D :D :D :D

I just stumbled upon that and metioned it today on my blog. I'm wondering if you know anything more about it. I would love to see something like this but it doesn't show anything new so its hard to tell if its real or not.

BTW- To the original poster. If your looking for a guide to help you get UAKM or Pandora working on your computer I have a both on my blog. I can understand the hesitation though. I got pretty frustrated at first but was so motivated and had enough time on my hands at the time that I learned the ins and outs of dosbox to get it working on my current machine.

Do you mean the Youtube teaser trailer?
If so, the comments on the Youtube video shed some light. But basically its a fan project, being put together by someone here and maybe a few others. Its not an 'official' game by Aaron Conners/Chris Jones but I'm sure Chris/Aaron would support it as they are very close to this community and supportive of their fans :) So I wouldn't personally doubt the comment on Youtube that Chris maybe sent over a recording of his voice saying a line for the project (pretty easy to do. just need a microphone and a PC. Then email the MP3 over the net). It is still not the next official Tex Murphy game though just to clear that up. And apparently is a fan-made remake.

Here are some threads about it:
