Another great property being made into a film.

The Watchmen.

This series was magnificent. Some of the 80's comics were truly ahead of their time. The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Sandman, Akira, Killing Joke, Maus etc.
And of course my favorite, Grendel by Matt Wagner.

The character shots look pretty good. Nite Owl and Rorschach look much like I imagined.
Nipples on a superhero suit!?

Doesn't change the fact that Freep is right, however.

Oh Jen, Batman: The Killing Joke is my favorite Batman story. Alan Moore is a comics god! A bit of a weirdo, but still a comics god! League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! V for Vendetta! Watchmen! The Death of Superman! From Hell! Not to mention Hellblazer!

Did you know Alan Moore claims he has met John Constantine? Twice? Apparently he said something to Moore like "Magic is easy. Any c*nt could do it."

But oh man, the Killing Joke was awesome. I was relieved and somewhat overjoyed when I read that Heath Leadger, may he rest in peace, was given a copy of TKJ to read prior to his part as the Joker in Dark Knight.

Speaking of which, after what I've heard through the grapevine, Mr. Ledger stands to receive a posthumous Oscar for best supporting male actor for his portrayal in the new Batman-flick.

Of course, that's just hearsay and rumors.

But to avoid derailing the thread completely, I'm looking forward to Watchmen, but I'm keeping my expectations low. It's a film that can easily be screwed up. Did you know, by the way, that Watchmen is the only graphic novel to appear on Time Magazine's 100 Best Novels of All Time list?

I love that bit where the Silk Spectre (II) and Night Owl (also II) stand on the rooftop and discuss the guy who ran after them back in their costumed crimefighter days and begged them to punish him. You know the one. That was a laugh and a half!

If they can capture the feel and atmosphere of both the story and the visuals, Watchmen might well become the best movie made in 2008.

Now then - sleep is called for, just got off the night shift.

Someone toss me a Phoenix Down in about 10 hours please :D

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I forgot about From Hell, oh yes.....
My brother got the "Killing Joke" Joker tattoo on his 18th birthday. It looks cool years later.
I'd agree that Moore is one of the finest graphic novel writers of all time.

Hope you got some rest....and Fred, check your PM's. There's an option to be notified by email when you get one.

As far as the movie goes, I can only hope for the best.....
Got a picture of your brother's tattoo? Would love to see how that turned out :D

True... I guess I just felt that I had to make that point.

Not to deviate from the thread either, but I think you are right Fred...I heard about Heath Ledger's supposed Oscar nomination for his portrayal as the Joker...from what I've read and heard, this was supposed to be his best performance on film to date..I'm very excited about it's release this summer...
