I truly miss Tex.
I guess I'm one of the slightly better off Tex fans though I never played the first two games. Got hooked on Tex with Under A Killing Moon, which thrust me into Pandora D. just as it was hitting the game shelves. Overseer wasn't quite the same as the others, but still had the right amount of Tex-ness that satisfied, like a smoke and a drink of Jack while reminiscing about the last time the world got saved. BUT, I also have both books (threadbare now and read almost to pieces. I've duct taped the covers to both) I also got DOSbox up and running so I can play both UAKM and Pandora nicely whenever I want. Overseer is slightly more tricky, but my ME PC likes it ok. Sigh. I've signed most of the petitions and will go on signing them if need be, but I can do Tex, the way we remember him and like him. Went to San Fransciso last year and saw Coit tower and part of Mission street. Tex would be a snot noses little ankle biter being annoyed by his older sibs about now; but we all know what he's gonna be about. I'm all in for bombarding with petitions anyone I even thought could give us more Tex.
Nice post, TC, and welcome to our international community.
FYI: I have both novels in PDF if you are interested.

Ditto what Jim said...
We all miss Tex... Are you interested in Playing the First 2 Tex Games??? I have them both on a Private Mysteries CD, I could possibly copy it for you or even send the Folders for the games through an email or IM if you have Yahoo... The folders are not that big as they are with today's games and they play perfectly on Dosbox...
Just put the Folders on your C drive or in the Designated Folder you have for Dos Games and Change Directories as you would with any game, and run the EXE file and you're playing the older Tex Games...
Some people {yes I'm one of them} like to keep their C: Drive kind of clean, so they create a Designated Folder for Dos Games... I named my just that DosGames... It's 8 letters long so it fits, anything longer than 8 letters and Dos doesn't like it...
I must add that Mean Streets needs the Manual to play, because when you load it up it asks for Such and Such Word on Such and Such Page in Such and Such Paragraph... So you'll need to Download those and print them out... I got them from here, the Parent site to this Message Board...
http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/
Just go there, click on Case Files, wait for all the names to come up just above it and go click on Mean Streets, then click on Hints & Help... When the little folder on the screen changed to the Hints and Help Screen just Click on Mean Streets Manual... It might also be a smart idea to Click on the Navcode List and copy/print them as well...
Well I may have just typed all this out for nothing, because I didn't wait for you to respond and say you were interested in Mean Streets or Martian Memorandum... But let me know and I'll get those files to you one way or another, we'll figure it out...
Again Welcome, if you ever have a question, a problem or just want to vent or ramble on about nothing, well just go over and check out the General Forum, that's pretty much all we do here... lol

Jim and Bafitis, thank you for your welcome here. I would LOVE to play the other games! Yes, Bafitis, yes, yes, yes! There I go babbling already... I've read the walkthroughs (since I thought I'd never play either of them). I do have yahoo email. UIf it's ok, I'll PM you to give you my E address. Thank you VERY much.
Kewl, I see a New Message I will get to work on seeing if I can send the files... Not sure what Size requirements Yahoo has, but I will try sending it and let you know if it bounces back...

Gee I thought I was the only person who sat down in front of my computer and poured a "Chevas" (not a bourbon man) enjoyed a good couple of nights with Tex. I just love playing this game. Just don't make them like they use too. At least we get to help Tex figure it out. I miss the "brain" work I have to use instead of the "thumb" musules used in PSP. No refelex only thinking. (ok, a little laughter too, with Tex and the Gang.) I miss Tex too.
Well here's to you Tex, I never drink alone.

Tex -"Give him a Lucky Strike, a glass of Bourbon (neat), and a leggy dame and Tex is in his element."
Miss you....boy that really is the truth. I think everyone who comes to this site misses Tex. My wife just blew up my computer while I was gone, on travel. Now, how much do I miss Tex? I get to start all over again and travel the road of Tex, I kiss her and said "thanks!" not a saved game was found. Yes, loading "Under the Killing Moon" again to start all over...three tales to begin with Tex.
Yes I am a lucky stiff.....Get the Chevas out honey I am going to San Francisco again! MY buddy Tex is asking for me again. "Hey do I still have my old trench coat in the closet?"

I try to go through Tex without Saving just to see if I can do it... I got to the Moon child the last time I played UAKM and I forgot to pick up the Watch on the fireplace from the Mansion...
I'm sitting here thinking to myself, "Yeah I'm doing great so far, now if I can just get passed the Moon Child"... Then the screen came up of Tex staring at earth and talking to himself, then he said "If Only I Had, Had A Hiding Place For The Winter Chip, Like A Watch With A Secret Compartment Or Something"... The Ending started...
I was sooo pissed at myself... "Dammit How Could I Have Been So Stupid"... That's what I get for rushing through GRS & The Broken Skull, I just wasn't thinking...

I thought about what would happen if I forgot it, but I just assumed the game magically wouldn't allow you to advance without it. I've got to replay the game specifically to make that happen!Bafitis wrote:I try to go through Tex without Saving just to see if I can do it... Hello Everybody. I'm new to this site but I love it already. I have only played UAKM and cant wait to continue the series. I guess I don't miss tex that much since UAKM is still fresh in my head but I imagine I will miss him soon enough. Bafitis would it possible to get a copy of the first two games from you. I would love to give them a try. Not sure exactly how to make them run on my comp but I'm sure I can figure it out
