New Orleans has officialy become HELL...Anarchy crisis rises

The people in New Orleans got screwed, plain and simple. Whether it's a black/white issue, a poor/rich issue, etc. is up for debate, but what can't be debated was the lack of preparation and the slow response.

People in America (and yes, I'm American) like to believe we're somehow better than everyone else. They like to believe if all hell broke loose things wouldn't get ridiculously out of hand as they have in other countries - the most recent example being the mass trampling in Iraq that killed nearly 900 people.

Another thing about Americans is we all think "someone else will take care of it." We sit around drooling on the sidelines waiting for the cavalry to arrive. Then someone mentions we voted to gut the funding for the calvary hedging our bets that a crisis would never happen.

The reality is that desperate people will always do desperate things and a criminal element exists in any nation at any time that is willing and waiting for an opportunity to wreak havoc. It doesnt' matter if you're the US, China, or Albania. People are people. It's the american ego that makes us ridiculously think things would be different and we all just got the big dope-slap we've needed for so long to remind us of that fact.

There was a mountain of documented evidence that showed the New Orleans scenario was going to happen - the only question was when. This was a surprise to no one.

I don't blame Bush and I don't blame every US Citizen. What I blame is a general apathy in this county toward their fellow man and toward the general health of this country. Too many people care about one thing: "Me, myself and I." Too many people do nothing constructive in their communities but expect everything to be provided to them in return. It's this ego and self-entitlement on a national scale that causes things to go from bad to worse and from worse to hell.
