My noir/ Vampire short story

Here is a little something I would like to share, it´s a short story written for my university.
It´s about a beaten down P.I. , disilusioned from life, hired to trace down a missing girl , leading him to a surreal place and a lot more than he ever expected.
I´m writing a long script at the moment (opposite to the short story I´m writing the mainscript in german which is a lot more relaxed considering its my native language- , so this is a variation of my main theme and when I had to hand this work in for my tutor ,I thought let´s play with my actual story a bit, so It was strange to make a short story out of it,and happened kind of in a rush( As usual I started working on it one night before I had to hand it in  ). And even though there is a lot more passion and effort behind the "real" and long script I think it turned out pretty cool.
Of course there is tons of stuff I couldn´t use in my short story, especially I don´t have the possibility to slowly explain why the main character became the way he is in a deep way - which is very important for the writing of my mainscript- and the story is reduced to basics - compared to the script- and if I had more time before handing it in I probably would have changed minor things but still I think it is highly enjoyable ( At least for people that like the themes used in here). Oh and by the way ,there is a purpose for not giving the main characters and locations a name in the short story, maybe I should have told my tutor before handing it in last week  Here you go:

The final sunset
As my eyes stared at the dying sun, my body felt cold and yet excited.
I knew this would be my final sunset and whatever I might find in this unholy night, would not make me regret, saying goodbye to the world of the living.
Sitting on the dark green grass beside the river, I had a premium spot at watching the descending sun throwing its yellow, red and purple reflection on the water.
I lighted another cigarette and let my eyes wander around. This whole place felt too unreal to be true, yet this feeling represented every day of my existence under a sun I got tired of a long time ago, but in a couple of hours I would find what I had been looking for most of my life, without even knowing it. Then my thoughts carried me away and in my mind the beginning of this story started to flash by.
-
About 3 weeks ago – Damned it seemed like it was years ago- I was a broken down P.I. who had seen too much tragedy in this world and who experienced too much disappointment in the human race, to see any natural light within the artificial city lights, while making my way through the night.
I was a stranger to these people even though I saw a lot of them night by night. The good thing about that was that whenever I hit my favourite bars, people would know I was not interested in having conversations with them, so most of them let me go my ways in peace.
But it should turn out this would not be a night like others. As soon as I arrived at my street, I could see the silhouette of someone standing in front of my office door.
Slightly drunken I asked him what he wanted, which made the old man- who seemed grimly fiendish- tell me he needed the help of a P.I.
After asking him in and having some Bourbon with him, he asked me to find a missing person, his 22 year old daughter to be precise. He told me about her vanishing without leaving any traces, nearly a half year ago and the police just doing nothing about it. I couldn’t say I was very interested in his story but it all changed when the man gave me a picture of his daughter. I looked into the shining eyes of a sad looking, yet beautiful girl with long black hair, that fascinated me from the first moment on.
“You know, she never managed to socialize with others,
she barely went out at all, there was always something different within her and she always had this love for, well you know let’s say darker stuff. Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price all that stupid depressive music and so on. I never understood it, but there was something that attracted her to the darker side. God you can’t imagine how worried my wife and myself are, you got to find her, no matter what the cost will be.”
“If I learned something from my P.I. experience, than it’s to be able to calculate someone and his intentions. And this bastard can’t hide that he never gave a damn´ about the girl, and now that she is gone, he has to please his conscience , even though he had 22 years to do that, in which he preferred not to do so” I thought to myself.
“Ok Mister you’ve got yourself a deal” I said to him. He shook my right hand. I felt an empty touch while he said “Great. You won’t regret it, just find our beloved daughter and bring her back to us. She’s not dead; I can feel that, my wife can feel it even stronger.
Parents can feel something like that, did you know that?”
“Well hmm actually I didn’t know that, but thanks for sharing your poetic thoughts we me, I feel much better now. You’re not by chance some kind of a fortune teller aren’t you? ” I poured myself another Bourbon, without asking him if he wanted more.
Ten minutes later the guy was out of my office, and I finally had some bucks in my pockets, but more important than that, I felt like I had a sense to focus on. There was something about the girl on that picture that went deep into my soul. Could it be the sadness on her face that expressed my inner world?”
Her father gave me some info on people that were in some way associated to her and let me visit her room the next day. That was the beginning of my researches and without boring the reader with the details, it took me two weeks to trace down a clue that would lead me out of the goddamn´ city into a forest area out in the north.
I had serious reasons for believing that she might have ended up in this completely surreal place, or might have been here at least. Odd enough or maybe even the really interesting thing about that clue was that it was her research on the occult that lead me to this place. There was something special about this place indeed, I never even guessed a place like this would exist within our country and I couldn’t shake the thought that very few other people know of this place, hidden behind a wall of woods, seaming like the place where dream and reality fade into each other.
I didn’t tell my client more than I needed to. I told him I got a very insecure lead and I would need some more money for my trip.
I wasn’t surprised he didn’t even ask me where I was going, nevertheless I wouldn’t have told him anyway.
It didn’t take me long until the first locals started to tell me to not go out of my motel room at night, since this area of the country has been haunted by vampires for nearly 300 centuries. Hearing these vampire myths made me realize, that I arrived at the place my search for the girl would come to an end. I showed everyone her picture -that I was carrying with me-, not with a result for a couple of days, until some notorious local drinker yelled at me “Oh my god, that’s her, that’s her” “You’ve seen her?” I asked with an overexcited voice. “Damned three nights ago I was out in the woods, getting loaded; walking by the riverside and then I saw this black-haired girl with pale white skin. She fixated me with her eyes, I couldn’t move, she came closer and closer and damned I´ vet never been that scared in my whole life. I could see there were bloodstains on her white dress and her eyes, her eyes they burned liked the fire in hell. Suddenly I fell over a knot and woke up from my trance; I didn’t look into her direction. I just ran the other way, and I ran and ran and ran. “
“Well that’s great” I said and asked him impatiently where to find that place.
Surprised by my reaction he stuttered just what I wanted to hear, ending with the words: “Mister I Don´t know what is so great about what happened -or nearly happened- to me, but you must be out of your mind. Search for her and you will find death or something even worse.”
“Trust me. I can handle that” I replied and ran to my car, while the man stared at me with discomposure. It was 30 minutes past 10 A.M., it would take me an hour to drive to the area and then I would have to find the old cemetery at the old river.
It was short past midnight when I got lost in a wall of deep fog. I was stumbling my way through the tightly overgrown forest area. I knew I was close to the cemetery. Before the fog set in, I’ve been at the place the old drinker stumbled, I even found his bottle of cheap booze, and then I heard a sound that sent chills down my spine, like never anything did in my entire life. It sounded like a wolfs howl but still with a different sub tone. I followed the noise and some minutes later I arrived at an old crypt. I took the path right beside the crypt and there was the cemetery, and much more important… there SHE was.
Some metres away she stood by a grave, staring into my direction. There was no fog in between us, but right behind her the night was still painted in deep mist. It seemed as if she had control over the mist. Her black hair shined through the night, brighter than any sapphire could. She was still wearing that white dress with red stains- I couldn’t take my eyes of her. Slowly she moved right into my direction, putting one of her bare feet after the other, coming closer like a snake that got its victim right where it wanted to have it. I felt fear like never before, but at the same time I felt a desire that shined through all of the darkness. Her eyes captivated me in a way, that I didn’t even see her making the last steps towards me. We looked each other in the eyes and softly her nose touched mine, while she whispered in my right ear. “I knew you were coming. I’ve seen you in your sleep. I know what you’ve come here for, and it has nothing do with the job you once were hired to do.” Her mouth left my ear; she stopped whispering, looked in my eyes again and said: “Your eyes don’t lie. You may walk and live in the world of the living, but does that mean that you are alive? I have looked like you, wandering through a world I didn’t understand, just longing for the night to come ( Partially a quote from Bram Stokers Dracula), where I could be alone with my thoughts. And here I am a creature of the night. I found home but still I wander alone. The old vampire that made me what I am is gone, and just like before I am on my own. But your eyes tell stories deeper than any ocean could be. You know that feeling, don’t you? No matter who was been in your company, no matter how many of your Clients you slept with, it didn’t change anything about your alienation.” I couldn’t speak a word. I just stood there mesmerized by her beauty and her bittersweet voice. “Listen, you’ve got two choices. And you can take that as a sign of my appreciation, others I meet at night do not even have one choice but death. You can leave right now, get in your car, forget this ever happened, continue your sad existence, or you can go back to your motel, use the day to say Goodbye to what you’ve been and the world as you knew it, and then you come here again at the very same time tomorrow night. I will make you one of my kind, and give you what you want deep in your heart, more than you ever wanted anything else. A life in death in the night time we will lead, side by side until the end of days. You will see the world with new eyes, with a new vision, with a new sense. You will be a hunter, superior yet graceful with no one being able to end this black band sealed in an unholy night.
And now go, I know you will make the right choice.” Softly her lips touched mine. If I thought I couldn’t be overwhelmed more than I already had been, her icy touch made me change my mind. She turned around and vanished in the fog.
Awoken from my trance I ran down to the riverside, there was no fog on this side of the cemetery anymore. I ran like I never ran before until I reached my car. My body was too full with adrenaline to make one clear thought. Without thinking about my actions, my way automatically lead me back to my motel. I slept nearly the whole next day. There was no point that made me decide for one of her options, in my sub conscience there was only one option, and she probably knew that and just wanted to give me the chance to say goodbye to the light. And so I decided to follow her advice, and picked a spot by the river – close to the cemetery- as the last place where I would see the sun.
-
And as I shook my thoughts aside, I realized the sun was gone. I was still sitting in the green grass beside the riverside, but now the water was dark, there were no more reflections on the water. Far away I could see a purple moon rising, ghostly embracing the night.
My life flashed by within a heartbeat, a struggle for a place to feel like home, becoming a cynical P.I., walking through the world with nearly all emotions deafened, but within three weeks I started feeling a new passion and a new fire burning, and all of that lead right to this night. It might sound more sophisticated, if I could say that in myself there was a war going on between good and evil, a choice between wrong and right. But what is good, what is evil? Years ago I stopped making up my mind on that, I have seen what human beings are capable of, and some of the most disgusting things I got in touch with, throughout my years of investigating, happened right under the banner of what is seen as good and pure.
There is no such thing as a black and white pattern in reality, and morality is mainly for those who think they can judge on others, while not considering their own actions.
What ever I might find tonight, may it be death or eternal life on my loves side, I did not regret that this was the last time I’ve seen the reflection of the sun on the water, for I shall now find my light in darkness. It was time to go.

There was no more room for fear in my mind while I made my way back to the cemetery and as I arrived at the crypt, she stood there waiting for me. She took my hand and softly scratched her nails on my hand. “Did you kiss the light goodbye” she slowly said.
“Yes I did” I said embracing her tenderly. She looked in my eyes and said “So it shall be. You and me will forever roam the night”. We kissed and it seemed as time stood still. The world out there was silent, it was just us in the darkness, just us and the feeling my journey was finally over.
And when she bit my neck it seemed all like a dream
Yes when she hit my flesh I yelled a starving scream.
And as my eyes slowly sank down and I fell to the ground,
It was that moment when she put her lips on my mouth,
In which I knew for sure I did not come to find death,
But by her side I will ARISE!

Thanks Bafitis. :D
The long version will probably have a couple of hundred pages, so with the short story I was just playing around with the main theme of my "real story".
After collecting ideas , writing down the raw storyline and some other things I started working on the script. I pretty much have most of the stuff in my mind already, now I´ll need the time to get it done, might take me a year ( I hope not) but I´m pretty ambitious about it and there is a plan behind the project that i can´t spoil yet.
I wouldn't want it Spoiled... I just want a copy so I can read it when you're done... :D

Unfortunately it will be in german. :(
But when you do something like that, you gotta do it in your native language, because that´s the way that gives you the most freedom and the chance it gets as good as it can be.
But on the long run it´s not impossible there will be an english version, in a form I can´t spoil.
Well I will certainly be interested if you get around to a Full English Version... Please let me know if/when it happens...
