Overseer crashing at Nexus....

It took me quite a bit of effort and web searching to get Overseer to work on XP, and boy was I excited. However, now I'm hopelessly stuck in Nexus, and I'm disappointed.

Every time I try to inject Tex with the syringe, everything seems to be fine. The video plays, and then Chelsea and Tex have their little conversation. However, after this, when the game begins to load Nexus again, the game crashes and I'm sent back to the desktop.

The game has a tendency to crash randomly on my machine, but fortunately due to the auto-save feature of the game it never causes any problems. I can just open the game again be put right where I left off.

However, that isn't the case this time. The game crashes every single time at this point, without fail. And unfortunately, the auto-save is saved BEFORE injecting Tex, not afterward. So I'm stuck, unless anyone has any ideas to help me out.

Thanks.
I can't even get it to run at all on Win2k, if it's any consolation.

You know... the sadness smiley on this board, " " simply doesn't express the kind of sadness that comes with not being able to play Overseer.

This one is much more appropriate:

Happen with both the CD and DVD versions?
A sansGUI interface is one that does not have the small features called "Windows". The term comes from the French word sans, meaning "without".

SansGUI's are more typically used in Unix-like Operating Systems. The conventional wisdom is that a GUI (Grapical User Interface) help guide the casual computer user to perform routine tasks with Point and Click simplicity. SansGUI's have acquired considerable acceptance for users accustomed to the CLI (Command Line Interface).
I only have the DVD version.
You should check out eBay or Amazon and see if you can get a Full Version for cheap... To my knowledge there were problems with the DVD that the CD Versions didn't have... Not sure of exactly what, but I'm pretty sure there were different problems...

I don't really have that option......I'm totally broke. I appreciate the support though, but I was sorting hoping for a way I could fix this issue with this version.
Have you tried downloading the Overseer Files from Nilo's (http://home.wideopenwest.com/~hbech/) site? Not sure if it'll make a difference, but it is something to try. My experience with the dvd version is very limited as I prefer the cd version.

EDIT - Did you mute the midi in the audio configuration? I know there are issues in Gideon’s Gallery and the Anazasi Ruins if you have not. If you haven't you would also be getting an "ERROR: Error Code Does Not Indicate An Error" message.

Didn't work ;/.

Strangely, I never had to mute the midi. I never muted the midi, and yet the game works just fine, no errors (except for this one, of course.)
