Oh yeah can't get enough of that refraction action!
I don't look at it as half empty or half full until I get more information. If you are pouring water into the glass, then it is half full...if the glass was already full of water and you pour it out, then it is half empty. I need to know the water level of the glass before you ask me the question!! Damnit, people!! Can you not see?!?!?!

This is the EXACT explanation I give to people.

Likewise!!

The previous fluidic substance level in regards to the complete content capacity is paramount in regards to designating the aforementioned current level by it's correct moniker and subsequently the only technically accurate method to convey total understanding of the original and seemingly quintessential philosophical query.

PS: I'd like to state for the record that I typed that up with only one glance in the dictionary, and that was to check if I could use the word 'quintessential' as a synonym for 'typical'. It turns out I can.

PPS: What does it speak of me that I enjoy turning a long sentence into a long overly-complex sentence? Does that make me a word-o-phile?

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
It makes you one of the good ones Fred.

It makes you envious of my original statement in this thread and a limelight stealer. I curse you to the darkest corners of the universe!! I mean...no I don't.

You can have the limelight bud. I know we agree on the central issue anyway :D

Answer: It depends on whether you're drinking or pouring.
Never too late for coffee, never too early for beer.
