Cyan shuts down

You MUST play Revelation! It is beautiful... and after all, you get to find out what happens to Sirrus and Achenar!

Face it Cub, some people do not like Myst simply because it has no real in-depth storyline, no real feel to the characters. It's about as deep story-wise as most 90's first-person shooters are. Whatever you read in between the lines is your own imaginings, and Myst leaves plenty to be desired. While I will agree that the graphics are second to none for the genre, it doesn't make it worth it for some people.

For my own sake, I prefer something with a more personal feel to it, something with more than one atmosphere, a sense of humor and hopefully a good cast of characters. Tex is an excellent example.

In any case, we agree to disagree. You like Myst, some of us do not. Let us not argue over the reasons why as none of us are going to convince the other party otherwise anyway. We've got plenty in common on other subjects to keep us busy with more friendly talk, so let's go and do that instead.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Is it that good Cub? I hope its better than Exile was. That was a slight disapointment, but I think thats only because Ubisoft and the company before that that went under (can't think of the name, Pusdrio or something) worked on it instard of Cyan putting full input on it. But thats just what I see. Later.

Yes Sowden, it's excellent. The puzzles are very hard though... not as hard as Riven, but pretty darn close.

The only games in the MYST series that I have been able to complete without any hints was Myst, Exile, and End of Ages (yes I finished it yesterday).

End of Ages is probably has most beautifully constructed real-time environments I have ever seen... the puzzles are logical and the interface is excellent. The only thing I have against it is the story skewes off on an odd tangent more centred upon the Uru and D'ni storyline, and not about Atrus' family. But still a great game... and you even get to revisit Myst island one last time!

Just a quick note on developers, Myst and Riven were Cyan titles. Exile was done by Presto Studios and Revelation was done by Ubi's team in France. End of Ages is back to Cyan.

Fred,
being a fan of Myst I know all to well (and probably more than most others) that you either like it or hate it. I mean I don't think I can get away with saying something good about the games without hearing many things bad about them... I can always accept that, however, I only step up to the plate when someone throws out an accusation like "They ruined adventure games". Other than that I think you are over-reacting as to the emotions and the intents here... I am not arguing for the sake or arguing nor am I trying to convince others to pay them... I was merely being defensive in regards to some very serious accusations.

Which of course you're entitled to :) You just get... somewhat enthusiastic sometimes, that's all ;)

Yeah lol! Becuase deep down I really yearn to be wow'ed like I did with Tex Murphy again.
