Wasn't it awful to begin with anyway? :?
I don't even have a Facebook, never cared for it... One person develops one thing so someone else has to develop another just to compete and act like they offer more and then begins the battling over nothing...

I find Facebook a valuable social networking tool. Without it we never would've gotten over 2,000 people to participate in the flash mob freeze we had here in Sydney.

It is also great with keeping up to date with parties, special events, exclusive film screenings and way to find out what your old classmates are up to.

For some there may be less perks, but with almost 400 social connections on the site, not to mention to ability to reach a broad audience when it comes to announcing events (especially those for benefiting charities), it is a valuable tool to have... but I don't care much for using it a a time-waster, it has its proper uses.

You could have used Any of the Social Networking sites out there, it didn't have to be Facebook... A Sydney Messaging Board on Yahoo could have probably worked just as well..

But everyone has their own tastes and opinions and likes and dislikes... I'm not going to vote one way or another to have any thing banned or whatnot... If I don't like something I just won't use it, that simple...

I personally don't like any of them, Myspace included... The only reason I have one is because the wife insisted to keep family members overseas and other places up to date...
People seem to have forgotten how to make a phone call or write a letter or even send a birthday card... I'm surprised I still get Christmas Cards...

I'm all for Technology and Modernization, but somethings just go too far and take the Personal Touch out of things...

Isn't that just the same thing anyway?

I agree, I am all for staying as personal as possible with Christmas cards and phone calls, but having facebook or myspace does not necessarily mean you have the abandon such traditions. Not for me at least.

While many people may dislike the personal disassociation such social networking sites have, it is by far the most convenient and efficient way to reach people... and my online Christmas card will reach my friends even if they are in another country so long as they log on and check it out.

As I said before, I totally agree with you, provided that people see it is a tool to enhance social interaction, and not a replacement all together.

And I see your point as well... They have their usefulness to a degree...

But you gotta admit, about 90% of people using these things are taking them way too far...

I don't see what the big fuss is about... I've been using the new design since it was first introduced awhile ago, and love it... People just can't stand change.... But ah well...

I still haven't gotten into Facebook or Myspace. There's just too many ironies for my liking. There's nothing on Myspace or Facebook that couldn't have been done with HTML ten years ago. It's also interesting to see that everyone, yep, literally, that ridiculed for being a geek during my scholastic years (pc gaming, chat rooms, internet forums etc...) is heavily into Facebook, yet I was doing similar things ten years ago. How times have changed.
I largely have it so that people can contact me if they ever feel the need. Aside from that I prefer talking to my friends I have now. Those I lost touch with I probably did for a reason.
