Well... the worst happened!
WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS BABY!!!
Got my recovered data back from the Lab this afternoon, and guess what: 100% recovery!!
I bought a single 1TB Seagate HDD and put it into an external enclosure with eSATA connectivity for them to transfer the recovered data onto, and they pretty much managed to replicate every single file.
I got my old HDDs back from the failed array and will be sending them back to Western Digital for replacement, which means I get to create yet another backup drive!
I have also built a new RAID-0 array in place of the old one. Same deal, 2X 500GB drives, but this time with 32mb cache each instead of 16mb.... giving me a whopping 64mb of effective cache. Also decided to go with Seagate this time instead of Western Digital, so we will see how we go.
I have learnt a lesson from this... I now run both the RAID-0 1TB alongside the External eSATA 1TB and backup nightly... and now thanks to eSATA it only takes an hour (even less if I tell the scheduler to ignore files that have not been updated).
All I can say is...... *PHEW*
Now back to work!

P.S. Many thanks for all your responses and support guys and gals!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
As you see the indigenous board goer here displays a evolutionary hiccup known to message board communities as not reading the whole topic. Hope they sort it for you. What have you told ABC?!?
Sounds something that would only happen to Tex

Ha! I love my post and the timing of it. I had only seen the disaster bits, and three posts below your post saying you're back in business I'm saying I'm sorry to hear it.
I'd found this in the meantime as a christmas idea... http://store.apple.com/uk_smb_67752/pro ... 0000000295
Well done about the ABC thing too.
It's been ages since I've seen your Masque of the Red Death. Is it still watchable anywhere?

I'm really late to this Cub but I just wanted to say that I'm really glad it all worked out and to congratulate you on the $8000 dollar deal, that sounds like an amazing opportunity you've got yourself there. All the best.
