His and Hers computers... That is the only way to go these days...
That's how it is going to be once I have the Computer Room remodeled, everyone is going to have their own computer... I can finally be Rid Of SIMS... She owns every SIMS game that is out...
Looks like a pretty good Machine... What kind of Computing does she do??? Is she into games like you or is she just an internet and media type person???
I don't know if you have the room for a solution like that though... I hope to once my Computer Room is done, but I don't right now, my wife has tried to throw that computer out like 3 times...
Congrats and good luck with Grim...

If you can't find a solution with a Modern PC, there's always the solution of getting an older computer with the specs the game calls for... I have an older machine in the basement that I plan on doing that with, it still has 98SE on it... Should run most of my older games just fine...lestat666 wrote:I'm a little jealous.... she's got some stuff that is a little better than mine =(

Hahaha, Man you got the raw end of that deal!
Here is me and my partner's machines:
Cub's Machine:
3.6Ghz Intel Quad Core QX9650
8GB DDR2 RAM
GeForce 8800 GTS 512
3.8TB HDD Space
Her's:
AMD Smepron 2400+
1GB Ram
GeForce 7200
120GB HDD sapce
Huge difference there. Mind you, her uses are mainly emails, internet, word processing and the occasional game of Age of Empires 2. She also hates using my machine when she needs to... as I always have something running or rendering in the background and she is afraid it might screw up if she does anything.
-Cub. =o)

Well, the computer she normally is uses is mine already.
So i am just getting that one back.
She wanted to get the computer because i was kinda an ass before.....
I would use the .... it's my computer, now get off routine........
but thats only cause i never used it.... ever... except half hr here an there.
I used a crappy 1gig pIII. Not even a p4.
with a geforce fx 5200.
So for me... that is a nice change.
She wanted to have full claim of the computer... and i wasn't going to buy her something that was already obsolete.
She wants it to Play Sims.... yes my wife owns every damn sim game out there too.
Even the stories ones.
She wants it to play sims 3 when it comes out.
I tell sims is just glorified barbies on the computer. She's playin Dolls.
I m kinda sidistic at times and like to just load up the game and kill a sim hehehe.
And CUB. that computer is a beast. I guess when you do film editing and rendering, you need something like that.

You mean the Life Stories and the Castaway and stuff, yeah we got all them too... And we already paid for and put a hold on a copy of the SIMS 3, due in March or May, I can't remember, I just know that it is an "M" Month... I'm sure she knows the exact date and the time the guy at the store said the truck should be there...lestat666 wrote:She wants it to Play Sims.... yes my wife owns every damn sim game out there too.

I had a problem with a program EA started using, SECUROM... It is suppose to guard against Piracy... It doesn't... But it can cause problems with Printers, Scanners, and other functions... I was finally able to get Sony to give me a program to delete the files... But that was with another computer, I haven't had a problem with the newer machine...
From what I read it seems to affect NVidia users mostly, lower end cards, not the better ones, but the strange thing is that it affects other things, not just the video... And I had a lower model in the other computer, so that is probably what the problem was...

Grim Fandango ran OK on my computer but it is probably 3 years old or more by now. One tip I have though is to use a program called CPUkiller http://www.cpukiller.com/
It sounds like a lethal program but actually its a handy little thing that simply slows down your processor. Got me out of a bit in Grim Fandango that you might get stuck on if you follow a certain path, you have to jump off something with good timing (impossible on a faster processor).
