Alexander, all of those sound good... I'm not sure I have that much time though lol... Midnight Nowhere sounds the best out of them, though the Death To Spies sounds like it has a Metal Gear feel to it and XIII Century: Death or Glory sounds like it would have a Lord Of The Rings feel, all of which I like very much...

I've looked at a couple of the Pirate games online, but I don't have the time to get involved in something that I have to play several times a week... That's why I quit playing at http://www.evernight.com... I just ran out of time for that sort of thing...

Spanish Main, Cuba, Espanola (Haiti), Jamaica - from Belize to Barbados and from Puerto Bello to Bermudas is the new map of the game, including such habitual to the reader of books about pirates cities as Caracas, Cartagena, Maracaibo, Panama, Havana, Tortuga and others (there corresponds 3000х2000 to a kilometer area of a planet the Earth). Geographical changes have concerned also to a land part of game – the huge spaces with jungle, caves, catacombs, grottos, bays, American Indian and pirate settlements. There are uninhabited islands and the “Tierra Incognita” places.
In the game there is a world that exists irrespective of player on which he can influence at his own discretion. For example, the gold caravan will leave to Europe two times a year and it’s up to the player to intercept it or to learn from rumors that it has safely avoided attacks. The European countries can quarrel, be reconciled, attack and capture each others colonies. Conclusion of peace or beginning of military actions between European powers do not depend in any way on the will of the hero, but he can take an active part in these events and play not the last role, having selected career of one of the sides. All subject characters are real historical figures of that epoch - Henry Morgan, Thomas Modyford, Colonel Thomas Lynch, Bertrand D’Ogeron, L’Ollonais, Captain Jackman, Peter Stuyvesant and many others and the quests are based on the real historical events, occurring at this time. The scenario is made so that playing on the different sides the player faces with himself from the last game, for example, in one career it is necessary to escort an important state person, having avoided attempts of his (hers) interception whereas in the career of other nation it is necessary to intercept this passenger or to protect a city from attack in one career and to capture this city in other career for other nation. It gives a sight from the different sides on the history, allows participating in it in various qualities.
Romantic quest where is possibility to take an active part in the destiny of beautiful Spaniard Isabella is given to the player. This quest distinguishes the thought over not ordinary plot, fine dialogues and script scenes. At favorable development of events the hero can take the beauty in the wife, but it is still far from the end of the history. The character of Isabella has the developed AI and the player will learn delights and difficulties of family life of a pirate.
Some mystical quests will force to break a head of the tempted player over the riddles and plot artful designs, and the main thing, to solve game tasks. Script code “Storm 2.5” has been especially updated for realization of the new sorts of game tasks and construction of full-scale script scenes.
Each task in scenario’s quest storylines can be completed in several ways, even the task failure is not fatal to the game, all variants of development are handled and a plot goes on the path depending on actions of the player throughout all game history. Any trifle at beginning of the history can result in the end of a plot by unexpected turn of events. But even without strict frames of subject stories the game world is full of various tasks and events - generators of quests each time will give to the hero unexpected turns, apparently, standard tasks. The merchant, to whom it was necessary to deliver a cargo, can cancel the transaction and the hero will get nothing, but he will get a cargo as a compensation of work. Search of the debtor, delivery of chests with gold, escort of merchants and passengers, tasks of governors, various rumors in a tavern, treasure-hunting on map pieces – all it will not leave time for boredom and «mandatory development» of the hero.
The new role system of game P.I.R.A.T.E.S. is named by the first letters of English names of characteristics of the hero - Power, Impression, Reaction, Authority, Talent, Endurance, and Success. These characteristics have influence on speed of development of 14 abilities of the character which are divided on personal (authority, the light weapon, the average weapon, the heavy weapon, pistols, luck and reserve) and ship (navigation, accuracy, guns, boarding, protection, repair, trade). Each ability is develops separately, depending on actions made by the player. For example, purchase in shop raises skill of Trade, and, developing it, the player cannot raise in any way, for example, Boarding. Usage of pistols, develops only ability Pistols, and with its growth shooting becomes more and more accurate and lethal. Sea fight develops abilities of Accuracy and the Gunnery, etc. At transition of the got number of experience points in abilities of the threshold dependent on the characteristic of Talent, experience points of personal and ship abilities («perks») which the player can divide himself having spent on 55 various abilities giving to the hero new possibilities.
Dividing of fencing in three categories: rapiers (light), sabres (average), swords and axes (heavy) has allowed making the hero the expert in the most often used types of weapon that gives an additional bonus in fencing. Each type of weapon has its pluses and minuses – heavy causes the maximum loss, but has bigger weight so, demands more energy for blow, the light weapon allows to make set of blows as demands less energy, but a loss too much lower. The player has 3 types of blows and 3 types of protection against them, all interface is realized on three “hot” keys with switching by a register key (an attack or protection mode) and easily applied in game at intuitive level after short training. Fencing fight became more intensive, the player can work out his own style – aggressive or protection with attacks. Application of new abilities of the hero allows expanding styles of fight conducting. For example, «perk» Fury allows the hero to turn for 20 seconds in berserk, capable to cut through any protection and insensitive to enemy blows.
It is necessary to select the character from the beginning of the game from the extensive list, which player can edit at own discretion. It is possible to use any character of the game or even texture with the photo. Beside appearance of the hero, it is necessary to define his nationality and propensities to certain occupations (the corsair, the merchant, the adventurer) - it will define speed of development of skills of the hero from base values of system P.I.R.A.T.E.S. but it is possible to change all characteristics of the hero and to create your own, unique type of the character. The nation of the hero is the nation selected at the beginning of game, or the nation active at present privateer’s patent (the hero is on service). The current flag of the ship of the hero can be changed in the sea to hide the true essence and to deceive the enemy, to approach it for boarding or trade. But under the false flag you can be recognized both by the ships in the sea, and by guards in the port. It is possible to try to get into a hostile city at night and to avoid vigilant patrol. Ability "Reserve" influences the success of a deceit and chance of detection. If the hero has “an award for a head” which he receives for his evil deeds against property and citizens of the country he is considered as an enemy, and he will be pursued by “head-hunters” at the land and on the sea, without giving him rest unless the hero will not settle a disagreements.
The possibility to be engaged in fair trade is attractive to the player as in the game the economic model of pricing, overabundance and deficiency of the goods is worked out. Those who would not like to trade can be engaged in a piracy. To capture and plunder the merchant ships loaded by cargo. To sell the plundered in friendly ports and to hand over captured captains to the authorities or to keep them in the hold of the ship periodically visiting or to execute them – is up to the hero. More the hero has made sins more powerful “head-hunters” will be started up behind him in a pursuit. Officers of the hero have the predisposition to good and bad actions of their captain, and their loyalty can vary, and they can leave the service. In the hero’s colony it will be possible to collect taxes and to repair the ships free of charge. Each city is protected by a powerful fort, and by some patrol ships. To capture the city the hero must sink the ships and destroy fort batteries. Only after that the hero can land his crew in fort. Having captured a fort, it will be necessary to kill all defenders. The hero can leave the captured colony to himself or to add it to nation possession, for which hero is on service.
Game «Corsairs: Legend Returning», gives to the player almost unlimited possibilities of game style. Game captures from the very beginning and will not release, while the player will not promote from privateer to an admiral or will not take over of entire archipelago. But even then the player will want to make a “fresh” start to try new paths of development, probably, to get married and obtain the property on the land and replay the game in the other game style. «Corsairs: Legend Returning» is an authentic simulator of a pirate life of the end of the seventeenth century.

Dividing of fencing in three categories: rapiers (light), sabres (average), swords and axes (heavy) has allowed making the hero the expert in the most often used types of weapon that gives an additional bonus in fencing. Each type of weapon has its pluses and minuses – heavy causes the maximum loss, but has bigger weight so, demands more energy for blow, the light weapon allows to make set of blows as demands less energy, but a loss too much lower. The player has 3 types of blows and 3 types of protection against them, all interface is realized on three “hot” keys with switching by a register key (an attack or protection mode) and easily applied in game at intuitive level after short training. Fencing fight became more intensive, the player can work out his own style – aggressive or protection with attacks. Application of new abilities of the hero allows expanding styles of fight conducting. For example, «perk» Fury allows the hero to turn for 20 seconds in berserk, capable to cut through any protection and insensitive to enemy blows.
It is necessary to select the character from the beginning of the game from the extensive list, which player can edit at own discretion. The nation of the hero is the nation selected at the beginning of game, or the nation active at present privateer’s patent (the hero is on service). The current flag of the ship of the hero can be changed in the sea to hide the true essence and to deceive the enemy, to approach it for boarding or trade. But under the false flag you can be recognized both by the ships in the sea, and by guards in the port. It is possible to try to get into a hostile city at night and to avoid vigilant patrol. Ability "Reserve" influences the success of a deceit and chance of detection. If the hero has “an award for a head” which he receives for his evil deeds against property and citizens of the country he is considered as an enemy, and he will be pursued by “head-hunters” at the land and on the sea, without giving him rest unless the hero will not settle a disagreements.
The possibility to be engaged in fair trade is attractive to the player as in the game the economic model of pricing, overabundance and deficiency of the goods is worked out. Those who would not like to trade can be engaged in a piracy. To capture and plunder the merchant ships loaded by cargo. To sell the plundered in friendly ports and to hand over captured captains to the authorities or to keep them in the hold of the ship periodically visiting or to execute them – is up to the hero. More the hero has made sins more powerful “head-hunters” will be started up behind him in a pursuit. Officers of the hero have the predisposition to good and bad actions of their captain, and their loyalty can vary, and they can leave the service. One more profitable, but dangerous occupation is contraband. But sometime there will occur the moment when the player already has a powerful squadron, holds will be full of gold, and contributions to usurers will give the fair income, the hero will wish more - he will want to be independent of European powers, to control his own colony, and maybe even to establish his own, free, pirate republic with multitude of cities under a “Jolly Roger” flag. In the hero’s colony it will be possible to collect taxes and to repair the ships free of charge. Each city is protected by a powerful fort, and by some patrol ships. To capture the city the hero must sink the ships and destroy fort batteries. Only after that the hero can land his crew in fort. Having captured a fort, it will be necessary to kill all defenders. The hero can leave the captured colony to himself or to add it to nation possession, for which hero is on service.
Game «Corsairs: Legend Returning», gives to the player almost unlimited possibilities of game style. Game captures from the very beginning and will not release, while the player will not promote from privateer to an admiral or will not take over of entire archipelago. But even then the player will want to make a “fresh” start to try new paths of development, probably, to get married and obtain the property on the land and replay the game in the other game style. «Corsairs: Legend Returning» is an authentic simulator of a pirate life of the end of the seventeenth century.
