I need some help with iTunes.
Here's a question for the iTunes experts that we may have in residence. As you know, I am Australian citizen and there's some items from iTunes I want, the trouble is, I the stuff I want is ONLY available from the UK iTunes store. What are the implications of me starting a new iTunes account with the UK store and purchasing through that? Am I going to have any issues running any music or TV shows here in Australia?
I think you won't have trouble with music, but tv stuff you might have a problem with. The easiest way to try and check this (I think) is to go into iTunes and change your store. I think this option is on the itunes main store page at the bottom. If not, it's there somewhere. Change it to the UK and see what happens.
What is it you're after in the UK? Not sure if I can help in any way but if I can, let me know.

You could try running WinMX... I've been using it for years with very little to no issues... Let me know if you can't find it online and I'll see if I can email it to you as an Attachment...

you only issue would probably getting a credit card validated over in the UK. One of the countermeasures they use to ensure people from other countries are not purchasing from overseas locations is the confirmation of credit card details. E.g. if you try and register an AU based credit card with a US or UK store it will know the address is not from that country's store. Fake addresses don't work either as they have the correct address linked to your CC number as well.
I ran into the same issue trying to purchase content of the USA PlayStation store from here in Sydney. It would not register my CC. But, you can use a virtual credit card service like Entropay (http://www.entropay.com/). Basically, this card is like a debit card you manually stock up on, and it can be used anywhere online.
However, if this is not really an obstacle for you in the first place then ignore this whole post! LOL.

I've been using WinMX for nearly a decade... Works well for Music and Videos... For programs there is Morpheus...

The TV show i'm trying to get is the latest Doctor Who special, Planet of the Dead. I'm especially interested in the High Definition version as it would look astonishing on my TV. I spoke to some guys at work about it and they say I should avoid it. Apparently they can region code the videos in the same way as a DVD, not too sure about the truth of this, but it does make sense.
I've tried changing the store to UK with my current account details (for Australia) but it doesn't accept them. I'd just hate to waste $15.00 (AUS) only to find it doesn't work. I have iTunes on my MAC and PC and I do have MacBook care which I am yet to have taken advantage of, I could give them a call I suppose.
See how we go.
Thanks everyone!
mininova would be ur friend in finding that

For TV Shows, I use Amazon Unbox Video... Just about all TV Shows are only 1.99... You have to look through or search to see if they have the one you're looking for, but I haven't had any problems with it so far... I've only used it a few times though...

Not sure if it would work, but maybe I could buy an itunes uk giftcard and if you set up a second account on your itunes with the UK as a shop (if you have to make a choice) and then you could perhaps buy it with the giftcard and from there download and watch it. Or maybe I can gift it to you? I'll have a look if you remind me, but I'm about to dash out the door....!

If you go to the main page and scroll to the bottom you can change the store there. For what it's worth I can access the Australia store and preview shows, so you should probably be able to do the same.
You will need to add a UK account, which is free. The episode you want costs £2.99 - not bad really to get it in HD too. To change accounts you just click the logged in account at the top right and enter the appropriate name and password. I think you should have no problems, but it might help you to check first that you can preview episodes.
If it won't let you buy it, it will probably tell you when you try. Let me know what happens.
