For Frank or any other Game of Thrones readers.
They've got a director and a great actor for Tyrion for the pilot.

Oh, you've read the series? Who do you think should play Dany? Or Arya Stark? I think they nailed the first casting well. If they had some extra budget, I'd go Patrick Wilson as Ned. Agewise, I think they're compatible.Bafitis wrote:Sounds good so far... Like Jen said, lets hope they don't drop the ball on this one...
No, No, I haven't read the whole series, I was just going off of the stuff posted so far... But it does sound good... Where can I read up on the Series???

Andrea, I just want to give you a big welcome hug! Tex Fan, fellow XX chromosomer, AND Martin reader, that is awesome!
The kids roles are going to be tough, since the stories are so epic, and let's face it, a little brutal too. Arya is def my fave, Dany maybe second, and Tyrion rounding out the top 3. I'm thinking Tyrion and Jon are the other two dragon riders, if Martin doesn't kill the beasts off.
(Which would be quite friggin up his alley, if you know what I mean.)
Poor Bran! I hope there is a bunch about him in Dance, cause I missed him in Feast. Too much Brienne of Tarth IMHO.
Anyway, if you ever want to gab about GOT, I'm your gal.

edit, hey 1300! Cool!

May is swarming with good news and releases!
I was just thinking about the HBO series last week, going through some fan art.
The casting must be a nightmare. I'm so glad it's being done for TV though. It allows for plenty of time to explore the story, and no pressure to have a few big names to cash in. Whoever they end up choosing, I hope most of them are unknown to me. Nothing kills a period piece like a familiar face.
The kids will be terribly difficult to pick. Unlike cheap teen shows, you can't possibly cast older actors in younger roles. Age is such an enormous factor in his characters' development, from Danny's pregnancy to Sansa who gets married, and of course Arry and her first kill. Even Jon, I tend to forget, is so young you can't cast anyone over 17 in his role, or you'd end up killing the whole effect of his experiences. Same with Robb, actually.
There are other problems left and right in the cast, such as the sheer size of some characters, and the god-like beauty of others. Outside of Danny, who is already a tough call, the other Targaryens in general will be hard to cast, if featured, especially so Rhaegar. Finding someone who outshines and puts to shame the other charismatic characters will be near impossible.
No one thinks Bran might end up flying? It would seem rather appropriate, considering his...abilities.
There's the case of Jon's mother still intriguing me, as well as the conversation Arry overheard while exploring the Red Keep for Syrio. I don't think this plotting was ever addressed again, unless I missed something. Do you think Varys was one of the two men plotting for Danny's brother to return to Westeros and replace Robert? Or two yet unseen characters?
So many questions! I can't farcking wait for Dance to come out. Even Feast got me excited again after re-reading it recently, even though it brings its load of new questions and very little answers.
