Alan Wake

I was going through the E3 floor description and various booths when I came upon this title.

Anyone else has heard of it?

Looks like Remedy is bringing us a new action/thriller/adventure title. The plot is a little "been there done that", but I'm excited nonetheless by the possibility of another story-driven game.

Yeah, I have been watching the progress of this game for about 5 years... maybe 6. It's taking a VERY long time to come out. But it looks good. Lets just hope that they keep their act together so we don't end up with another Duke Nukem Forever.

What Cub said, I've been following this for at least... 3 or 4 years now. Awaiting it with glee!

I remember hearing about this when it first started being developed 6 years ago.

Forgot about it cause there wasn't much about it at the time.... not even a story summary, just a few screenshots.

Sure looks amazing now.

I wanna play this.

This is one of my top expected titel. It is mady by Max Payne creators, so it should be high quality title.
Only one uboleasant thing is, that Microsoft supported Remedy (money), so it will be X360 title and later on PC with last version of Windows (maybe Windows 7).
It looks like it's gonna be good. Unlike last years horror, alone in the dark (shudders)

I fell in love with the Max Payne franchise and I felt Max Payne 2 was an incredibly polished game. It's one of those games you like to go back and play every few years (like Tex) to re-experience the rich atmosphere and fun gameplay. Why they didn't keep producing more Max Payne titles, I don't know. There would always be a core of die-hards who would buy them.

Alan Wake was announced YEARS ago by the same people, and since then has been listed in several "vaporware" articles. The premise, art, everything looked GREAT, but where's the game?

At this point, I won't get my hopes up. When it comes to vaporware, there is usually a good reason why it didn't make it to the shelves and so if/when it finally does, it's really a crap shoot. Either they put a really mediocre game on the shelves to recoup their costs, or they actually managed to work out all the problems and produce a decent game.

All in all, it's very rare for a vaporware game that finally hits the shelves to really wow people. For example, Prey was vaporware for years. When it was finally released, it was a solid game (I liked it). Yet, it just wasn't an A-level game.

My advice is definitely try the demo first and read the reviews.

New Trailer, and boy does it look good!!!!
Matt
I only watched the Trailer and haven't read any details on this game, so try not to take offense to my opinion here, as I see some of you have been following it for almost a decade now...

It looks great, definitely a game I'll be interested in... The trailer however, I couldn't help but think of Silent Hill meets Resident Evil...

Is there a release date scheduled yet??? And what Platforms will it be available on???

No chance of that happening as 3D Realms have absolutely nothing to do with it. It's a shame that they changed it to an XBOX exclusive title though.
They did WHAT!?!?

It was originally intended for PS3, XBOX and PC, but they've stripped the platform back to XBOX only. Whether that's permanent is unknown. I'd like to think they'll at least launch a PC version before the year is out as the majority of their fanbase (Remedy) are PC gamers.
This means the PS3 version will take at least one extra year to come out... Meh... Means I'll have to settle for the xbox version then...

I wouldn't hold your breath when it comes to a PS3 version. Personally, as slim as the chances are, I think a PC version is far more likely. Remedy have had the opportunity to release their predecessor Prey onto PS3 for some time but it has still not got a release. In fact, they released it for XBOX, PC and even Mac! Cross your fingers for a PC release instead.
