Monkey Island

Ok, anyone bought the new series yet and if so, is it any good??
David
I never was intersted by Tripwood serie. So this will miss me too.
I've never played the elder ones. I think I might catch up on those before hitting the new series.

Monkey Island 1-3 are in my opinion canon, I abhorred the 4th one. But that's just my tastes. This is however, the good old days all over again. Love and nostalgia!!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I loved the first, the second was ok, the third was brilliant and the fourth wasn't too great.

I hadn't even heard of Monkey Island until I came to this message board... Lots of talk about it though, so I might have to give it a try...

I had some great times playing Curse of Monkey Island in my early youth. The sequence where Guybrush Threepwood keeps inadvertantly contributing to the pirate song is pure genius. I can't wait til I get some cash so I can buy the new season of Monkey Island.
I agree with Fred on almost all aspects. The first 3 games were real gems! The 4th game wasn't as good as the others, but nevertheless I did enjoy it.

This week I'm going to start the first episode of the new Monkey Island, which I'm looking very much forward to. I had hoped I could have started this weekend, but I had other projects going on I had to finish first :)

So.... anyone know if it's any good yet? I'm too busy on Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and Tex is hot on Indy's heels.
David
I've just finished it, and it's very good! It is the big coming back that every fan was waiting for.
A lot better than what they did with Sam and Max.

(And you can see in the telltale forum that some people in the telltale staff are big fans of Tex Murphy!! (http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/sho ... ght=murphy))
Which of the monkey Island games was the fourth one? The Escape from Monkey Island? If so, that was the only game in the series I played, and I guess I liked it by default since I never played the first three. You guys are making me want to get them now ...
I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
Escape was the 4th, yeah. Secret was good, Revenge was equally good in my opinion, but Curse was a rare gem!

I just finished it last night as well. It's a really great game. I just love the great dialogue and humour. Dominic Armato does an awesome job with the voice of Guybrush.

Monkey Island really is a great game for TellTale's episodic series since MI has always been made using chapters (episodes), so I'm overly satisfied with this.

For those of you who haven't played the other games - MI 1-3 are really worth playing! I'm looking forward to revisiting Mélee Island in MI Special Edition soon.
