Overseer in Vista, DVD and 64bit
Firstly: Hi, I'm new to this board and I must say it has helped me tremendously in the past. So thank you.
Secondly: I feel delighted that so many people still play Tex's adventures.
Thirdly and what I came here to say:
There is an easy way to circumvent the problems on installing Overseer in a x64 environment; just copy the Overseer folder to your hard drive and play from there.
This even allows playing the DVD version. Just copy the patch files over the originals; install DVDExpress (you know the usual).
But! there are two weird glitches, haven't found a way around this: the weirdest thing is the fact that the mouse cursor dissapears while trying to play the dvd version. In the CD version only the alcatraz cell-block a crash appears, had no other crashes. and I happen to be playing under Vista64.
If all of this information was already common knowledge, I apologise for parroting others.

thank you for that information even though it surely wasn't needed... this was not about mouse trails of any kind.
I would be happy with mouse trails. I do not even have cursor.
Other than that; this was about playing Overseer in a 64bit environment.
I reiterate: I did not need information about lockvideo.
Sorry about my rant.

I posted it had helped in the past with mouse trails, I didn't read you had mouse trails.
it helps with video & other mouse problems,
just try it, just check your ini file to see .
another problem with overseer is dual core processors & dual cards if you have either disable them
Are you playing from your original disks or a patched program.

you could try lowering you hardware acceleration. In my last post I posted instruction on how to do so for someone, and this may work with you too. Here is a copy of the post...
On your desktop, right click > select properties > settings tab > advanced.
Now in this section there should be a tab called 'Troubleshoot'. This section contains a slider in which you are able to adjust the amount of 3D hardware acceleartion on your card. I sugeest moving this slider all the way to the left (aka. zero) thus disabling your hardware acceleration.
This method proved usefull with similar problems people faced with overseer, and hopefully it will work out for you too. If it does not work all the way to the left, try moving it up bit-by-bit and trying again.
check out the old board & you might find another answer, ati video card was also causing someone's problem.
