Gray Matter anyone

Just a couple of days ago, the voice recordings for the upcoming Jane Jensen adventure game Gray Matter were completed.

Quote:Jane Jensen herself supervised all of the English voice recordings, which were directed by Lorelei King, one of the most successful and accomplished American actresses working in the UK today. She appeared in numerous films from Hollywood blockbusters such as 'Notting Hill' and 'The Saint,' to British independent films and TV shows.

Publisher dtp entertainment managed to gather a number of popular voice talents for Gray Matter: For example, Sam Everett, the game’s female main character, is performed by actress Philippa Alexander. Dr. David Styles, the game’s main male character is played by Steven Pacey, known from British movies and TV such as “Heartbeat”, “M.I.T” and “Pie in the Sky”. Furthermore, the cast also includes well known British actors and voice actors like Adrienne Poster, Rupert Degas and Sacha Dahwan.

Gray Matter will be the first new title by the famous adventure author since the release of Gabriel Knight 3. Staying true to the Jensen-style, the story interweaves gruesome incidences and supernatural events.

Neurobiologist Dr. David Styles is one of the main characters in the game. Ever since losing his wife in a terrible car accident many years ago, he has become a recluse, leaving his English mansion Dread Hill House only on rare occasions.

One day student and street artist Samantha Everett shows up on his door step unexpectedly, at a time Styles just happens to be looking for a new assistant. Sam gets the job. Originally from America, she has been travelling Europe for the last few years, so she could really use the money. Her first assignment involves finding six volunteers for an experiment planned by Dr. Styles at Oxford University.

The experiment begins harmless enough, but soon strange things start happening. Styles is visited by his beloved, but deceased wife. Now it is up to Sam to solve the mysteries of Dread Hill House.

In Gray Matter, the player takes control of Dr. David Styles as well as Samantha Everett as they are trying to unveil secrets and find the truth.

dtp entertainment will release Gray Matter worldwide in March 2010.

I was lucky enough to visit the voice recordings in London myself and to spend some time with Jane Jensen, Lorelei King and Philippa Alexander.
The German adventure website http://www.adventure-treff.de and Adventuregamers.com both were invited to join the recordings and to do interviews with the crew, so as a huge fan of Jane Jensen it was awesome to go there for adventure-treff. I admit that i felt like a zombie at times since i had to go to the airport very early and had to work the night before, so i slept less than 2 hours, but it didn´t really matter and i had a blast. :)

Mark Jones from Adventure Gamers already published his article about the day, so i don´t really want to go into details, but it was surely a great day. Especially since we were the only two visitors, the whole event took place in a pretty private and very relaxed atmosphere. Inbetween we went to a restaurant where Jane shared quite some storys from the old days, which was obviously extremely interesting.
You can find the article by Mark right here by the way: http://www.adventuregamers.com/article/id,1078

Jane Jensen turned out to be a very, very kind and easy going person and she didn´t let you feel her high status at all. At the same time she was very outspoken and it´s pretty obvious to tell that her views concerning the importance of "real" storytelling in adventure games are pretty close to the Game developer´s manifesto on the Big Finish website.

I uploaded the pictures of the day on Facebook by the way, you can find them right here:

Sounds good all around... Can't wait for the release... Is there a list of computer requirements for this game yet by any chance??? Just wondering if I'll be able to run it, since my computer room and upgrades have been put on hold due to the divorce...

No info on that right now, might take some time until they announce the requirements since there´s still some time left until March.
