gog problems

Have purchased 3 Tex Murphy games on gog and am having all kinds of problems re the downloads. Have been sending messages to gog for some time but they never reply. What experiences have others had with this site?

one error message I get it Forbidden when I try to accessing the site to download
other download just never appears on my desktop when I download it. Unable to find out why.
Have you asked around on their forums?

will give that a try and see how I do.
I haven't used GOG yet myself... I've downloaded Overseer, but haven't had time to install it yet, so I can't really help you with the steps needed to use their Downloader or whatnot... I can tell you that if their support system is like any other, then they get loads of emails every day and it will take them a few days to get to yours... They are normally answered in the order received... And GOG has been around awhile, so you'll be a little ways down on the list... So give them up to a week to get through the emails... GOG isn't ran by a huge corporation, so they don't have dozens and dozens of people working the Tech Support emails... They need time...

tex murphy is back in town
I had no issues getting any of the Tex Murphy games to work on my machine from GoG, other than occasional Overseer crashes which were mildly annoying but the game auto-saved before crashing and the crashes weren't repetitive at the same location. I believe this problem plagued the original release of Overseer and is not a GoG problem. I got through all of Overseer with only a few crashes, none repetitive, and all of the time my game progress was auto-saved so there was no loss, just start up the program again and it will let you continue your game in progress.

I suspect if you try downloading now, the problem may be solved; it could have been that certain files were temporarily unavailable or any one of a host of minor problems that all go away rapidly with time.

Like plumgas, I recommend using the GoG downloader, it is better than a generic browser download. GoG has one freely available on their site.
