dosbox

i've been trying to play pandora on dosbox, but whenever i play it the game plays real slow. i didn't try uakm yet but i wanted to get pandora on dosbox. there's no error, just slow. anyone know how to fix it?
I think you have to edit the Tex4.exe file with a Hex Editor some way to fix that... it's fairly simple to do... but I forget how it is done...

...Can anybody help out here?

Did you speed up the dosbox clock? It starts on a very slowly speed, and I believe you can speed it up and slow it down with two keys that, if I remember, should be between F9 and F12. The exact stuff should be in the Dosbox readme.

i tried to speed up the dosbox speed (i forgot how high i tried) but it still ran slow. i'm not sure if the speed changed at all when i tried to speed it up.
Yep! You're right, Cub:
You'll need a hex editor such as, Ultra Edit - shareware. Edit the TEX4.EXE file by navigating to the following area: 000bfae0: 04 00 00 9C FA 66 A1 86. Then over-write the 'FA' with a '90' . After editing it should look as follows: 000bfae0: 04 00 00 9C 90 66 A1 86. Save and close.
i downloaded a program called hhd software hex editor and i changed 'fa' to '90' in tex4.exe but that didn't work. should i try ultra edit instead, or would that do the same thing?

Sorry for the delay in responding - server problems!

Using HHD was fine - you could have used any Hex Editor. But since it didn't help with the slow movement perhaps you should try reducing the window size, under the PREFERENCE TAB, to something like 400X300 - (no. 3 key) and if that doesn't help then try changing the rendering quality to Med - (F3 Key). Or you could try a combination of both window size and rendering quality. And if you're still not satisfied with results from any of the above changes then I would strongly suggest running Pandora from XP's Command prompt, using the latest version of VDMSound. I use the Command prompt myself because the entire game runs much more fluidly. I have all the necessary edited files, and the latest version of VDMS if you're interested.

i didn't notice this before but i tried taking out pandora and installing it again, and when i was installing it on dosbox the install program ran slow to. it probably happened before, i just didn't notice it.

i'll try vdmsound if you got it. my email's [email protected]. thanks.
vdmsound made it work. thanks a lot. by the way do i just do the same thing for uakm?
I use VDMSound for UAKM, and it works great. Same settings, as I recall (which is not always well  ).
I tried vdms for Pandora and all I get is a blank black screen. I have XP Home.
Edited by me :)
