I'm curious, what kind of traditions {if any} do you have in your part of the world when it comes to Christmas {and the holiday season}???

Wow, now that is different... I've never heard of Christmas and BBQ going together... I love Grilled foods...Cubase wrote:A blazing hot summer day for Chrismas as usual, probably spent at the beach... picnic food and BBQ.

Does it seem strange to you all that all the Movies done about Christmas have it all cold and snow on the ground and whatnot???

Yeah... it's a bit strange... but although I have never had a white Christmas, I feel like an expert on the subject and its tradition from the amount of White Christmas movies around! haha!Bafitis wrote:Wow, now that is different... We celebrate the same way Fred does. On the 24th and presents are unwrapped in the evening on the 24th.
As for traditions I guess it all depends on who you ask since every family may have their own kind of christmas traditions. One of the traditions that my family has regarding Christmas Eve is as follows:
- We have a nice dinner with either roasted duck, goose, pork or turkey which is followed up by our typical dessert called Ris á la mande (rice pudding with whipped cream and almonds, served with cherry sauce). Delicious dessert.
- After dinner all candles on our christmas tree are lit and presents will be placed under the tree. We'll then sing a few christmas carols while dancing around the tree
- We then unwrap our presents. However, in order to make sure that everyone gets to see what each present contains, we each get one present and wait our turn while one unwraps his/her present. Normally we go in turn starting with the youngest. When all have unwrapped a present, a new present will be given to each and the same procedure continues until there are no more presents. That may take a few hours, but it's really nice and cozy

Well, the Swedish christmas tradition isn't that different from Freds and neotrams. We also celebrate on the 24:th and open the presents on the evening of the 24:th. And since we have young children in the family the presents are delivered by Santa himself.
- We have a nice family-dinner with Christmas-ham, meatballs, pickled herring, kale, spare ribs and several different kinds of food. Here are most of what's on the Swedish christmas table.
- After the dinner we just spend some time together eating candy, drinking coffee, watching a bit of TV, playing a game...
- All of a sudden there's a knock on the door and it's Santa. Carrying a big bag on his back he's delivering all the presents so we make room for him on the couch and he reads the labels on the gifts and hands them out to everyone. And after the gifts are handed out Santa leaves, one of the older male members of the family magically re-appears (
) and we open our gifts.

We have a celebration on the 24th, but only because it is my mother's birthday... Otherwise we do the morning of the 25th, like you see in most movies...
