Other detectives

Hey I'm just curious what other detectives do you watch/read to fill the void left my Tex.

I personally have always been partial to British detectives myself: Holmes, Poirot, Marple, Campion, Wimsey, etc..

As for American detectives I really enjoyed the old tv shows like Remington Steele, Moonlighting, Hart to Hart, Murder She Wrote, etc..

They're all great ones, and my favourite, though maybe not a PI is Poirot (I actually know David Suchet's brother quite well though I've not met David himself)

But you can't forget old Humphrey Bogart - whose birthday is on Christmas Day

Wow's cool. Yeah I love watching David Suchet. I just recently finished reading "Curtain" and was picturing him in my mind as I read about the death of Poirot.

My sister just sent me some DVDs for the Last Detective staring Peter Davison. I thought it was pretty good and have always been a fan of his since Doctor Who and All Creatures.

I'm a fan of Detective Jack Spratt, from Jasper Fforde's nursery crime series of books. Right now there's just two: The Big Over Easy and The Fourth Bear.

I don't remember his name, it has been a long time since I've watch any of them, but I liked the Cosby Mysteries series that Bill Cosby had for a little while... But I don't remember the Characters name...

Poirot is great, but let's not forget the greatest detective of all time . . .

Lt. Columbo.
I, too, like Marple and Holmes. Jeremy Brett plays the best Holmes I've ever seen.

BTW, I really look forward to the new Sherlock Holmes with starring Robert Downet, Jr. It looks a bit off kilter from the original Holmes but still quite inviting.

Colombo and Spade are 2 more of my favs. Also, for years Diane and I enjoyed Murder, She Wrote starring Angela Landsberry.

I agree Jim, I wanna see the Holmes that is coming out as well and I'm not really a Downey fan...
