The way it was meant to be watched =)

This Dvd is the best thing since sliced bread for any Watchmen Fan.
Just got this.

Price point is really good too. Only 60 bucks Canadian.

Enjoy, I am sure many of you will be asking for this under the tree =)

Oh goodness, you have NO idea on how many hours have been spent watching Watchmen. Directors cut DVD, then Blu-Ray AND Maximum movie mode. The Ultimate cut both on its own and with the the Zach commentary. Plus all the extras. The only thing I haven't watched yet is the Motion Comic, (which was on Blu-Ray in the Ultimate Cut, nice surprise) I'm hedging on that, I'd rather read. 8)

Zach commentary on the Ultimate cut was much fun! When I first got the blu-ray it took me about 5 hours to watch it with all of the freezing for detail. He still had other little nibblets I had yet to find.

LOVE IT!

Amazon was having some insane price war, so I pre-ordered it for 30 bucks!!! Worth it many times over.
I plan to watch it during my holidays =)

It does look really good, but I do wonder about films that release version after version of the same thing. I loved the movie but for those who bought the original and then the directors cut - won't they feel like they've wasted their money before if this is coming out soon?

Saying that I'd probably buy it.

I see your point David, but for my favorite movies I don't mind. I will wait for the extended Blu-ray versions for LOTR. Releasing a theatrical version 1st seems cheesy. I can understand when the movie 1st hits and studios scramble to prepare the DVD asap and can't include goodies till later, but the LOTR Blu-ray seems money grubbing.

Lets see, movies I've bought several times in different editions

LOTR
Star Wars (4,5,6) cringingly 6
Watchmen happily
Galaxy Quest
The Prestige
Blade Runner
Animatrix
Dune

Wow, my geekness is showing....lol !
How many releases are there of Dune? I'm guessing it's the David Lynch directed film and not the SciFi miniseries.
Dune? There were about 4 versions that I know of, I had a bootleg one that had a different ending, (paul walking over to princess irulan, like they were getting married and he was taking control.) It looked like a TV dub and its was crappy quality, but it had stuff that the other one didn't, paintings, more narration etc.

There was the bloody plug pulling and non plug pulling version (eek on that scene).

I've had a couple different VHS version and 2 official DVD versions, regular and extended. No BLU ray though. (And honestly I don't know if its available, I doubt it, cause I'm sure I'd of at least looked at it.)
Because it's an older film, I doubt there will be a measurable improvement unless they do a huge overhaul.

Which they did with Wizard of Oz and my GOD it looks great! A must watch on Blu-ray. Better yet, have one copy going on VHS or dvd and have the BluRay one on. Then switch back and forth!!!!
I waited specifically for this version.

Zack Snider mentioned it long before the dvd was released, so I knew it was coming.

Waited to buy the Matrix box set when it came out too. Has everything ever released that has to do with the Matrix. Still waiting for the mega super uber duper star wars one.... but still no cigar on that.

I want the blade runner briefcase though.

Hey Jen, you hear about a new version of dune coming out?
Brian Herbert is involved with this one.

Scheduled for 2010, but we all know how those can be off.
We ll see what happens.

Rumoured to direct are Neil Blompkamp of District 9 fame or Neil Marshall... not sure who he is..... Although Robert Pattinson is rumoured to play Paul too.... I don't know about that last one........

Who knows....

My brother got me the motion comic for xmas and overall I give it a thumbs up. It's fairly well-produced and more faithful to the series, if that's your thing. Includes the sub-story of the guy lost at sea, etc.

The only real issue with it is that all the voices are done by a single voice actor, and he's a guy. It's quite awkward when he does the female parts (at least, for me. My friend didn't mind it. But then again, he enjoyed the latest Indy movie, so...)
Yeah, I thought that was a little weird...

especially the sex scene.

Good voice actor though, all considering.

LOL yeah, I haven't gotten that far, but that was the first thing that popped into my mind when I heard the male voice actor voicing the female parts (what's gonna happen when they get it on...)
It's pretty funny =P
