No, I'm not trying to argue, just clearing up a fact... Plumgas made it sound like I never watched the show or gave it a chance... I did give the show a try, I gave it 3 tries to be exact, but I didn't think it was any good...

Hey, the Beatles were turned down before they got signed.
Watching three or four episodes and deciding the show's not for you is understandable. But typically when this happens to me and then everyone I know tells me I haven't seen enough to judge the entire series, I tend to resist the urge to dismiss the show as "no good" and wonder instead, "Hmm...maybe I should give that a try again some day." You know, chili always tastes better after it sits in the fridge for a day or two. For me, this worked with Fringe, Alias, 24, and *drumroll please* LOST. I watched the first two discs (eight episodes) before I caught on to what they were trying to do, and completed the season before I realized that this was a show I'd like to keep an eye on.
If you're so inclined, please continue to decline. But realize that those of us who have more perspective gained from watching more than three episodes will be a little bemused.

Personally I don't think it should take 8 episodes for a show to finally grab my interest... It was the same with Jericho, I couldn't get into it after a few episodes so I didn't think that was any good either...
Then again Jericho is a bad example considering it didn't have any more than a few episodes...
I know what you mean by thinking you won't like something and then you end up liking it... I did that with Star Trek Voyager... As a Star Trek fan I didn't think Voyager was going to live up to the name, but I loved Voyager...
I gave Lost a try because I liked several people that were in it, but I just couldn't sit through it...
As you say everyone you know told you something else, the only people telling me this are online... I don't know anyone outside the computer here that watches the show, they either didn't like it or just never bothered to watch it because it conflicted with another show or for whatever reason...
I've had shows end/canceled, you all who enjoy the show have my condolences...

well with jericho I recorded several episodes it & then sat down & watched the first episode & then deleted it.
If I can't get into the first episode I don't bother watching anymore. same with a movie or game you know straight away if you want to continue.

I'd like to think there's a difference. Here's why:Bafitis wrote:"Ended/Canceled" = Same Thing, regardless of what they put in Press Releases and Interviews...
If a show is canceled, it is usually canceled mid-season. Firefly was canceled before they could plan out a season 2. In between seasons two and three of Family Guy it was canceled. Depending on when a show is told that it won't be on the air anymore changes the ending; either they get enough time to film a decent ending that caps off the series, such as I'm told Life on Mars, or you're left in space, such as Firefly with the guy floating off into space saying, "Here I am." The difference lies in the amount of closure you get.
Now then, due to the finnicky nature of Lost, I'm hardly expecting perfect closure out of the ending of the final season. That said, a few years back the writers of the show announced that the show will end...after three more seasons. Most shows that get canceled don't usually get another three seasons to run.

I suppose there is a difference, where the story gets to be rounded out... But it still shows that the network wasn't interested in it enough to continue it... Why would you want to end something that is making money??? Just doesn't seem very business wise to me...
I mean CSI doesn't seem to have an End in site...
I have to say that most shows I see get canceled are done after the season, not many shows I've watched that have been canceled get canceled in Mid-Season... I've only seen that maybe twice... Commander In Chief is the only one that I can think of right off... But most of the time, they just don't come back with the new season...

The thing with shows like Lost is that it's one of those shows that's constantly progressing it's narrative. The story must be continued and must be maintained, and after six seasons it's impressive that it's managed to hold itself together for so long. It's never easy for a shows with long stretching stories to do that; look at Heroes or 24, and 24 doesn't even have to worry about previous seasons so much as the current dilemma, and yet it still resorts to soap opera politics to fill in time.
On the other hand shows like CSI do not need to worry so much about the overall narrative, as there isn't any. Each episode is self contained. Someone gets murdered, evidence is gathered, mystery is solved. I suppose there is some joy to being able to just sit down and watch any episode of CSI or Law and Order without worry of plot, but I can skip it. CSI doesn't have an end date on it's site, but if it were canceled tomorrow I'd claim that television has a brighter future.
Oh and if they killed all of it's spin offs too, that would be nice. And Law and Order and all of those spin offs. And every single show that's just some crack crime scene investigation team. How do you fill up the free time? Reruns of Walker, Texas Ranger!

watched the promo for lost last night, I thought it was pretty good & for someone who hasn't watched lost before or started to watch a few season & then got confused. Gave you a excellent run down of what has happed over the past 5 seasons.
as far as CSI goes watched it about once or twice & thats about it, can't understand why it's still running . I do like law & order but I only watch the re runs on cable
