Kevin McCarthy

Hi everyone,

I'm Ben and I'm from Sweden.

I thought it was time for me to get out of the shades and what is more appropriate than doing it on a day like today?

The day our master and mentor Kevin McCarthy turns 96 years of age. A number that is actually higher than the normal intelligent none adventure playing person in the world.

I wish him all the best and I'm looking forward to write here in excactly one year from now with a similar text in mind (It might be sooner).

Cheers
Wow... 96... That's amazing!

I think he waits for The Pandora Directive Part II. 8)
What amazes me is that the guy's still working!

First, welcome to our wonderful, imternational Tex community. Please post often; we will appreciate your thoughts and input.

Good news for Kevin! Wow! At 96 I'm sure he is still strong in mind. His role as Gordon Fitxpatrick will be remembered among Tex fans forever. Maybe longer!

As Jim said, Welcome to the Community, good to have you out from the shadows...

Yes Kevin McCarthy is amazing... He is currently working on "The Ghastly Love Of Johnny X"...

Hopefully we get many more wonderful years out of him...

Hi Ben, it´s great to hear that Kevin Mc Carthy is still alive.
Such a great (and underrated) actor. I´ve recently seen a fantastic film with him from 1956 called Nightmare. A truly great film, loaded with atmosphere, and it seems to me like the movie might have been one of the key inspirations for Three Cards to Midnight. Everyone who likes Kevin Mc Carthy, film noir and dark psychological thrillers should look out for this gem, you won´t regret it. :)
"Jazz musician Stan Grayson (Kevin McCarthy) wakes up from a dream in which he has killed a man during a struggle in a bizarre mirrored room. However, thumbprints on his neck, a strange key in his pocket, and a haunting, otherworldly musical riff in his head quickly convince him that it was not just a dream. Afraid that he might be a murderer, yet not recalling the events of the nightmare, he confides in his brother-in-law (and New Orleans homicide detective) René Bressard (Edward G. Robinson), who tells him that he's been working too hard and drinking too much. But as Grayson is almost magnetically drawn back to the scene of the apparent crime, Bressard angrily comes to believe that Stan was lying and knew exactly what he had done. Grayson, paralyzed by his guilt, can barely find the strength to try to clear himself. McCarthy portrays a sense of overwhelming panic almost as well as he does in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), and Robinson's tough cop is warmly textured with a sly sense of humor. Nightmare is a far superior remake of director Maxwell Shane's own first adaptation of the Cornell Woolrich story, Fear in the Night (1947). With a larger budget and better cast, Shane creates a shadowy, hypnotic world of seedy urban nightclubs and cheap hotels; even a picnic on the bayou evokes a feeling of dread. Woolrich would have felt right at home. ~ Steve Press, All Movie Guide
Welcome Ben. The more the merrier.

Wow Kevin McCarthy still going strong. That's great to hear.

Wow... had no idea he was that old! That would have made him around 80-82 when he was in the Pandora Directive - he certainly didn't look it!
Wow I love your avatar. I'm a big Doctor Who fan.
