I'm going to meet Richard Norton tonight !!

Hi all,

I haven't been to these forums in while, but I just had to pop in and brag a little 8)

Richard Norton is currently in Sydney (apparently working on Mad Max 4), and will be visiting my martial arts school for a private seminar on Brazillian Jiujitsu and street defence. And I tell you what, I cannot wait! I'm a big Jackie Chan movie fan, so I remember seeing Richard way back in the 80's so it'll be awesome to meet him, both as a movie fan and martial artist.

Ofcourse I plan to have my Overseer disc signed by Big Jim Slade himself! YAY! :D
Oh my God! That sounds so totally cool. I'm green with jealousy.

Just got back from seminar and I gotta say, Richard Norton = classy guy.
As a martial artist he has a tremendous level of focus and explosiveness, I even copped a few solid slaps and forearms from him and was also on the receiving end of a simple take down. For someone at the age that he is, he certainly is still fighting fit. Add to his wisdom, knowledge and charisma, it was a truly inspirational experience.
After he left we were all just hanging out telling each other things like "I got slapped in the face by Richard", "I got kneed in the chest", "He twisted my neck"..., trying to see who can brag the most

When I approached him to sign my Overseer disc (disc 4 ofcourse), he was like "Whoa!". He remembers it and said that was fun to make, and to my surprise admitted that he hasn't actually seen or played the game. Ofcourse I told him it was awesome.

So being roughed up by Big Jim Slade himself, definitely my real life Tex-moment!

Wow I'm so impressed. I remember being totally terrified of Big Jim Slade in that scene at the hotel room. I must have gotten shot by him at least twenty times.

I loved his moves in Overseer. I'm a big Jackie Chan fan too. Martial arts is so cool and takes so much time and effort to be really great at it. I've only been doing it myself for 7 years. It must have been spectacular to see Richard Norton in action.

You know I looked him up on IMDB. According to that website he's 60 now. He must be in awesome shape if he's still doing seminars now.

Big Jim Slade was almost 50? I mean, Richard Norton portrayed the character at the age of about 47? I never woulda guessed he was above the 35-40 age bracket at all!

I hope I get to look that good when I'm his age...

Better get going with that workout I suppose!

I am so glad to hear your experience, Bren. And, I might add, a little envious (but not jealous). Good for you!

Oh come on Jim. It would be such an honor to get beaten up by a Tex Murphy villain. But then again maybe you'd prefer to get roughed up by Eddie Ching or have to fight off advances from Regan Madsen.

Excellent. It sounds like that will be a very fun time.
when I played overseer, that was one character I hated. Maybe due to the fact it was one of the hardest parts of the game. However when I read he was australian I saw him in a new light......

Really? I found I really really hated Sylvia in Overseer. I think it was painful to watch the story unfold because we all knew what was to come in Tex's future.

I never hated Big Jim Slade because I was too busy being scared of him. I felt so proud when I finally made it out of the hotel room without getting killed. That was a hard obstacle to get past.

Actually, Sam, you're right. Eddie Ching and Regan are more my style.
