nostalgia
I've been semi-following this board for a couple years now. But I just can't take it anymore! There isn't a single good game I've played in like 6 years. What the hell is happening? If I actually enjoyed shoot-em-up fps' then I'd be in heaven.
Does anybody else just wish they could time-travel back into the early 90's? lol, God, it makes me feel old and I'm only 22

Hello Okcbevo,
Sadly we've made no progress closer to a new Tex Murphy game. Chris and Aaron have started a new game company and have released two games. Things are kinda so-so right now but we still try to keep hope alive.
Yeah games have deteriorated into the same old shoot-em ups. I'd have figured people would have gotten tired of them by now.
On man I don't think so. During the 90's I was in college and that was a lot of hard work. I'm kinda relieved that's all over. I do miss Tex though. He's like an old friend you lost touch with over the years but never forget.

Yeah that's a thing I've noticed, actually. The music in older games usually kicks butt on 95% of the new stuff.
I mean, you load up Megaman 3 for the NES, say? Listen to that soundtrack for a bit, and tell me it doesn't beat ten types of brownies out of the last ten FPS games you played.
You don't have to go back that far though. Just give the Monkey Island theme a listen.
Or hell - Matt Heider's work. Powerful atmosphere-setting stuff. Speaking of whom, is he still about on these boards? I know he used to post here.
Nowadays music in games are so... awfully generic. Stock-like even. About the only recent game I can remember hearing any music I liked was the main theme to Heavy Rain.
Graphics and visuals are taking over games. The audio actually used to be a selling point!
Nowadays it seems that's limited to the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Everyone in production is worried about money... They want to know what they can do for the least amount but make the most... No one cares about Quality anymore...
Just look at Toyota, no different than the gaming industry... Worried more and more about making money and Quantity...
While companies like GM, who care about Quality boarder on bankruptcy...
It's always the company that cares about its customers that ends up suffering... Just look at Big Finish Games, barely making it because they care about giving something to the customer and not just taking their money...
Could they punch out several Hide and Seek games with no story and little imagination, sure of course they could... But NO, they took their time to give us something with a compelling story and interactive gameplay and how are they rewarded for it??? By having their product Pirated the same day it came out...
The Gaming industry and the Toy industry just aren't what they use to be...

First and foremost, welcome to our international brotherhood of loyal Tex fans. Please post as often as you feel and respond the same to other posts.
I am not a shoot-em type of game player, so I have to rely on playing certain older PC adventure games and hope that some day there will be a new Tex game. The market makes it doubtful but our positive thinking and faith keeping vigils may pay off someday.
What are some of the older games, besides Tex, you still like to play? Also, give us a little background info regarding yourself, if you don't mind.
