Also known for his roles in 5 Easy Pieces, Waterworld and Speed just to name a few. Prolific, unique acting style (a la Jack Nicholson), he wowed us for years, mostly as a bad guy. Indeed, he set the modern day level for bad guys and, as a result, many a movie was elevated to 4 & 5 star status. He will be missed.

I will remember him from Apocolypse Now and Blue Velvet.

There are just too many movies to remember him from... Yes as Jim said he played a good bad guy, but he also played the good guy from time to time... I remember a show he did, my father and I both really liked it, but they canceled after the first season... It was called E-Ring, it was based off of the group of people in the Pentagon who decide and execute the Special Forces Missions... I thought it was a great show myself...
