Yeah, it was a two-season TV series that ended abruptly. The movie made afterwards was actually more of a prequel, from what I understand, taking place the day before and day of the first episode (haven't seen it yet, though).

Are you talking about the music? The famous main theme of Twin Peaks is altogether different, no mistake. They rely on that music prominently throughout most every episode, but the most common music otherwise is that same vibraphone/jazz bass/brush-snare feel that I love in PD.
If you're talking about the show itself, well, the genres are somewhat different -- nothing's really very much like that show! -- but the fact that they're both mysteries with detectives as the main characters ties them together somewhat.
