Star Wars Saga blu ray boxset announced!
This is the one I have been waiting for. To this day, as big a fan as I am of Star Wars, I have held off purchasing any of the DVD releases knowing that they would release something substantial to cover the whole saga. Better still, it's going to be on blu ray so I couldn't be happier that I have held off all this time:

The same thing happened to me with the initial Blade Runner DVD release where I thought they might bundle the Directors and Original cut in the one package. Years later, I found my self purchasing the definitive Blu ray collection which has all of the edits to date. It will be interesting to see which George includes, though it's likely that he'll include the latest ones or perhaps make yet again some more modifications due to his perfectionist streak (for better or worse).
I will not be buying this one mainly because I have no need for it- the DVD version still looks great. I wonder how far off we are from a 3d release LOL. That would be very lucasfilm.
The Blade Runner set was well worth the money. But I already own the VHS copies and the DVD set of Star Wars, I feel no reason to have to rebuy it again.

I was so looking forward to LotR on Bluray, mainly because i assumed, they'd have the option of theatrical/extended on them. My naivity of belief in value for money let me down. =/

Yeah I was kind of upset that they didn't have the Extended versions of LOTR as well... But like Cub I bought them anyway and will buy the Extended ones once they come out, if they come out...
What they are doing is raking in the money by releasing the regular versions and then in a year or so they will make a big to-do about the Extended Versions being available and they will rake in the money again... Bastards...

Here's a major update for this:

Sadly my dreams of having this as a Christmas gift have been shattered but we are getting it in less than eighteen months.

Is it the special editions or the original editions of the original trilogy? I will only buy the original editions.

I can almost definitely guarantee it will be the latest revised edition (that is, the one which had the face of the young Darth Vader superimposed onto the spirit of Anakin Skywalker at the end of Return of the Jedi). Each subsequent DVD releases has always been an update of its predecessor. The only exception being is that apparently the latest batch did include the original cuts as a bonus disc. But that's about it. Lucas has obsessed over the audio and visual polish for too long to just put the updated editions back on the shelf. While this hasn't been confirmed, there is a pattern of behaviour that seems to suggest they intend on releasing the updated versions.
At this point I'd only get the Extended version of LOTR. It made the excellent originals that much better and really fleshed out the story. It would feel weird going back to watching the theatrical releases again.
What do you mean "Han Shot 1st?" I'm missing something here, please explain...
It's been awhile since I've watched either version, so I'm not following the line "Han Shot 1st"...
