Speaking of GOG. . .Riven Problem (can't save game)
Well, since there's current interest in GOG on the board, I thought I'd bring up a problem I'm having with Riven that I bought from GOG: I can't save a game! If I try to save a game the program just aborts without any error message and I'm back to the desktop. I've read the post on GOG to try to solve the problem (move the game to another directory, etc.) but that didn't help at all.
Anybody else have the problem and solve it?

I tried that. No change. Same thing happens.plumgas wrote:gary,
click at top of screen & use save as
you see the name highlighted as *.rvn delete that with eg gary or save 2 & it works.
I clicked also on the default save file * it overwrites that file with your save.
The trick is save as......

I actually deleted the SAVE.RVN file, but no change. I can't even get to a point where I can name a save file. It simple abort as soon as I select the SAVE or SAVE AS command.plumgas wrote:have you tried over writting the default save file without changing the name.
I have a fresh installation on my new win 7 64 & saved for the first time & it worked by naming a new file or over writting the default save.rvn file

okay I had a look at my directory & found a few postings on the myst forums,
seems riven problems only effects some pc's,
they tell you to copy the contents of the riven folder to a new directory, which sounds like you have tried. However you don't copy the data directory.
after you have created a folder/directory for riven you create a sub folder named data.
then copy the contents from the original riven directory.
Just checking you did this correctly.
I have 2 sets of the cd's & also gog's which was the only one that worked.
