UAKM - GOG version thanks!
I love you guys so much I cannot tell you! Words can't express! I came to this site because I needed a TEX fix. I had tried to load up the game on my Vista system to no avail and was depressed because I thought I'd never get to play it again. I knew there must be Tex fans somewhere on the internet and sure enough, here you are.
I read a note/reply by poster Sam10100 to another user about downloading the game from GOG.com. I immediately went there, downloaded the game (a LONG download) and it's up and running beautifully!
I love Tex and I love all the Tex fans everywhere, especially Sam10100! Thanks!

Thanks for the replies, Bafitis and Samantha.
I've played UAKM, Pandora and Overseer in the past. I bought UAKM when it first came out many years ago. It's my favorite although of course I like the others too.
I've been trying to figure out how to turn the sleep/power save function off on my computer so I can download Pandora and Overseer via GOG tonight. I'm afraid if I leave the computer during the long downloads, the power save will kick in and abort the download. I'd like to avoid babysitting the computer for such a long time.
Any tips about this? My computer is a Dell XPS_420...32 bit...Vista Home Premium.

Hey Sally,
As I recall, the computer's power saving options are under the screen saver menu. I think you can right click on the background there should be a choice for "display". I think the dialog box that opens should have a tab for screen saver.
Somewhere on that tab should be a link for change power settings. Under there is when you can force the computer to not sleep.

I've never used Vista and with the difference between Windows XP and Windows 7, I haven't a clue where Vista's energy settings might be... It could be under Display settings as Sam said or it could be under Control Panel like it is in Windows 7...
If Sam's instructions aren't right, then I would say that Plumgas is are Vista expert on site...

Be sure to give Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum a try as well... They are old school games, but still very entertaining...
I'll make inquiries into the Power Settings for Vista...

I found the powersave off button. As Samantha said, it's at the same location where we set the screensavers. So no problems on that score.
I do have another problem though. I've written an e-mail to GOG support but they haven't had time to reply.
I tried downloading Pandora and ran into the "set-up file is corrupt" notice immediately. I cleared my cache, temp internet files, etc. but it still won't work. Then, I tried another game that is also very large (in three parts as Pandora is) and ran into the same thing. But yet another game after that, not nearly as big, downloaded okay.
So...I think games such as Pandora and Overseer which are so large they have to be divided into several files are going to be a problem for me. I've tried, as much as I'm capable seeing that I'm fairly computer illiterate, to follow all the suggested solutions but now I'm stumped.
If you have any insights into this type of problem, I'd be so grateful.
Thanks,
Sally

I didn't have any issues downloading and installing Overseer or Pandora either... Though I've only done it on XP... Could be something that happened when they did that Shutdown stuff a couple weeks back...
Give them some more time to reply to the email you sent, if you want to see if it is an issue that others are having or see if maybe there is already a solution posted, go to GOG's forums and take a look around...

Hi Lynne,
The problem is I can't download Pandora at all. When I click on the first file to start the download the "set-up file is corrupt" message appears in the first few seconds.
It's the same thing with the other game (Gabriel Knight The Beast Within) which also has three files. All the other games I've downloaded (one file each) have gone smoothly.
I've posted on the GOG forums board but I may have put it in the wrong place because there are no replies yet. I was hoping this was going to be a common problem and someone here, or there, would come up with a quick fix.
Thanks for your help, though. I'll remember what you said about combining the files if I'm ever able to get them downloaded in the first place.

the setup file never seems to be corrupted so there must be something wrong.
it's only 2mb. Have you attempted to download the 2nd file as yet.
I had a look at my account & found they have dropped the gog downloader & the only option is browser. What are you using Internet explorer or firefox.
