Awesome - no 3D!
I am very curious as to who the villain will be though. Earlier he claimed the Penguin was not an option as it was a little too "sci-fi" for the tone of his vision of Gotham, so for the same reasons we will not be seeing Mr. Freeze. Catwoman is a likely catalyst because she could kind of carry on the theme that ran between the interplay of Batman and the Joker in the sense of having an antagonist that holds a mirror up to the supposed "hero".
Maybe another appearance from the Scarecrow? Though I seriously doubt he would take the lead role as villain though. As perfect as I felt Dark Knight was, I always disagreed with the decision to kill Two-Face off (and yes, his death was confirmed by Nolan in an interview, he apparently died on impact).
I also feel that the Ridler would have been an ideal choice for this film because he would have suited the real world feel of the story really well. I pictured him being this really provocative editor of a newspaper who becomes so dillusional about the power he has as a writer he just takes it to the next extreme. But, in some ways, this would be compared to The Joker.
So it will be very interesting to see how this plays out. But with the old crew on board, I can't see this going wrong. This could perhaps be the greatest trilogy since Star Wars 4-6 and Back to the Future if done well.

I realize that the Comic Books had Batman as a Dark Character, but I was raised with Adam West's Batman and Michael Keaton's/Jack Nicholson's Batman/Joker...
While these new Batman movies have been good Action flicks, I just haven't accepted it as Batman...
They do say they will be introducing New Characters, so I guess that means we can expect to see Robin finally???
As for the Villain, I'm thinking Catwoman maybe or Poison Ivy... There needs to be a Female element here somewhere...
Penguin is also a possibility...
I'm kind of glad that they are not going with the Riddler, because you just can't top Jim Carrey's Riddler, in my opinion...
I doubt they'll go with Mr. Freeze...
They could bring in Harley Quinn and have her try to avenge the Joker's death...
So many possibilities...

Chris Nolan has stated that if the company wanted him to introduce Robin, he would chain himself in the basement and refuse to work. So no, no Robin. Thank god.
I'm guessing they'll bring back Two-Face and surprise us all. Some dark, evil mastermind behind the scenes deal until halfway (pun!) through the film, and then they spring Aaron Eckhart on us.
The only other candidate that would fit the somber tone and real-life feel would be Catwoman. If Riddler is out, she's the only major villain left in the rogues gallery that fits the bill.
And since they're being so quiet about it, I'm guessing they'd rather have something to show us to convince us it won't bomb terribly like that piece of sh*t film with Halle Berry. You know, the whole Hollywood-is-afraid-of-negative-assosications deal.
So yeah, Catwoman as a secondary villain, with Two-Face in the shadows. That's my guess.
Unless of course they go for some random minor villain, like Calendar Man or Hugo Strange or Mr. Zsasz.
-Fred
Edit: The villain I would love to see however, would be Hush.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Good to hear. I've always considered Batman as a one man force. Anything extra is just sheer filler.Fred Buer wrote:Chris Nolan has stated that if the company wanted him to introduce Robin, he would chain himself in the basement and refuse to work. So no, no Robin. Thank god.

If you recall the final 2 minutes or so of Dark Knight, Batman and Gordon seem to be discussing Harvey Dent's obituary. I realise Harvey Dent and Two-Face are two separate people, but the conversation very much hinted at the fact that he died. That said, perhaps Harvey Dent truly is dead and the new life form of Two Face truly has risen. I've actually never thought of it that way. Kind of like how Anakin Skywalker dies in Revenge of the Sith if you catch my drift...
I agree with Joel, Harvy Dent is definitely out, he was clearly dead at the end of Dark Knight... Not only did it hint at the fact that he died, they showed him dead and Batman turned his head saying that Gotham needed its White Knight and how he needed to be the one that the police chase... So Batman is plagued with Dent's Murder at this point... With only Gordon and his family knowing the real truth...
Chris Nolan did say there would be New Characters as well, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

They were one in the same regardless of how you look at it...
I wouldn't mind seeing Poison Ivy being brought in... But it will most likely end up being Catwoman, question is how will they portrait her... Will she be completely Villain or will they do like they did with Pfeiffer and have her be a mixture of good and evil...

No, they're not. Harvey Dent and Two-Face are two separate entities. By saying one is dead does not exclude the other, just because they're portrayed by one actor. Besides, Poison Ivy is WAY to sci-fi for this vision of Batman. Don't see it happening.

The body of Harvey Dent was DEAD, Dent and Two-Face use the same body, so if Dent is Dead so is Two-Face... And it will be "Way To Sci-Fi" if they bring him back, because last time I checked the realm of Batman wasn't Supernatural...
So how about Punch and Judy??? They are spin offs of The Joker, white makeup with green hair, they could try to avenge their mentor's death???
Like I said though, Nolan said we would be seeing some New Characters as well, so we could end up with anything...

Well, they only said he was dead, and they told the world Harvey Dent was dead, which would allow Two-Face to come back without anybody thinking it is Harvey Dent. They would also throw in some kind of explanation. But I'm not ruling it out. Here's why:
When they made The Dark Knight, the title was also a reference to Harvey Dent being a white knight, and about his fall from grace. With the new title, it would explain how Harvey Dent's dark side would rise up even more evil and twisted than before.
Of course, I could be wrong. But I'm not stating gibberish without any circumstancial evidence to back up my play here, either.
So, if Two-Face for some reason shows up in the next installment, I expect there to be a youtube-video of you eating your hat, Baf
But if they rule out Catwoman as well... Then I'll be well and thoroughly stumped. I gotta admit, I was also hoping they would include the Riddler. But then, it's Nolan. Who knows what goes on behind his curtain? All I know is, we don't know jack.
However Baf, you and me can agree on one thing, I'm sure: We're both looking forward to the next film!

Well like I've said in this thread and others, I was raised with the more Colorful Batman, but this series of films is very good when it comes to action and special effects, so yes I'm looking forward to its conclusion...
Unless Nolan changes his mind and does more than the 3 films he stated there would be in the beginning... Surely there is no shortage of villains to choose from... Even if he gets a little Sci-Fi-ish and brings in villains like Mr. Freeze and/or Poison Ivy and Bane, among others...
Strange, Nolan said, in the article Joel posted, that there would be No Riddler, yet IMDB has Tom Hardy listed as the Riddler {Rumored}... I know they haven't even begun work on the film, but still...

Just to put any doubts to rest:
http://www.superherohype.com/features/a ... n-two-face
CS/SHH!: Is Harvey Dent alive?
Aaron Eckhart: No. He is dead as a door nail.
CS/SHH!: So he's not coming back?
Eckhart: He ain't coming back baby!
CS/SHH!: I was hoping he would.
Eckhart: No. I asked Chris [Nolan] that question and he goes, "You're dead" before I could even get the question out of my mouth. "Hey Chris, am I?" "You're dead!" Alright, cool.
lol I would have loved to have been on set and overheard this conversation!
So, he' s gone.
As for the IMDB page, my understanding is that is the Hollywood equivalent of Wikipedia - anyone can contribute. So i'd be very skeptical as to what you read on there.

Actually no, you have to be an Authorized person to edit IMDB... With the exception of Character Bios and Reviews... But to edit Cast or other vital information, not just anyone can do that...Joel wrote:As for the IMDB page, my understanding is that is the Hollywood equivalent of Wikipedia - anyone can contribute. I've tried, because I've seen things that I knew for certain were wrong, but I wasn't allowed to change it...
