Dreamfall ???
OK, I understand this game is the sequel to TLJ? Correct? If so, there are some available on Ebay and they say they can be played on XP, which is what I have.
Here are the requirements: Win XP • Pentium IV 1.6GHz • 256MB RAM • 3D Video Card 128MB RAM • 7GB HD • 2X DVD-Rom.
Since I know next to zilch about my computer, I have determined my XP is Pentium 4, 2.66GHz, 256MB RAM. So far so good. Where do I go to get the rest of the info?
Also, is the game worth the effort? I mean, TLJ was a terrific game and sometimes the sequel should have stayed at home.
Thanks for helping.

"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
Jim, from what I've gathered, it's worth a shot. I've yet to try it myself though, so I feel somewhat less than competent to answer in a yes-no fashion.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
The Hard Drive space you can get from going to My Computer, Right Clicking on your C: Drive and selecting Properties... 7 GB nowadays isn't all that much though, so you shouldn't have a problem clearing that requirement...
The DVD, if you are running a 2X or slower, then you have a Dinosaur computer and really need to upgrade... So again, you shouldn't have to worry about this one...
As for the Video Card... You should be able to do one of a couple things here... First you can right click on your desktop and select Properties and you might find it in there... Also you can go to your Control Panel and go into your Device Manager and find your Video Card somewhere in all those Devices... I'm running on a Windows 7, so I can't give you the step by step on where to find your Video Card, Sorry...
But if you don't feel comfortable fishing around for it as I've described, I'm sure someone else will come along shortly and can give you the Exact point in which to locate it...
As for the game, I've never played it, so I can't tell you if it is worth the effort or not... What is TLJ anyway??? I might now the game, but I'm not familiar with it being referred by Initials only...

The Longest Journey was an excellent game. I played Dreamfall and felt it was good but as you would expect Jim not as good as it's predecessor. It was definitely worth the play.
Jim,
To find out your system specs you need to search for an executable called msinfo32.exe
It's usually located at: C:\Windows\System32\msinfo32.exe
When it opens, click on "System Summary". It will give you all the specs of your computer in detail. This is Windows built-in program which exists on all versions of Windows.

Baf,
Dreamfall is on Steam so if you are curious you can try it. Right now it's full price though so I'd wait for a sale. I think $20 is too much for an old game. They are selling the Longest Journey Dreamfall bundle for $25.

I never got to play the Longest Journey when it came out but Dreamfall is an excellent game with a few small problems. I would highly recommended playing it. The characters and dialogue is among the best in the genre in my opinion.
jim the specs are high as far as the video card, I love dreamfall actually & I prefer it to the longest Journey.

Yes I'd classify it as an adventure game. There was still a lot of going places and doing stuff and talking to people. I think there was one part where we had to fight somebody a bit but nothing too strenuous.
The weird thing about it was you play as three different characters at various points of the game.

there are 3 scenes when you have to fight which I hate, & depending how you handled the monsters in the cave area where you might have to fight there also.
I have to set the keys on the keyboard close together to make it easy. A lot of people complained that they had to fight.
It showed modern day graphics & the images were not as small as in TLJ, if you know what I mean.
a lot of people think dreamfall was a sequel to TLJ but it wasn't really, it continued with a girl called zowie & she met april in her travels between stark & arcadia.

Hey, Jim, be sure your video card has pixel shading 1.1 (something like that) or better. I had to get a new video card when Dreamfall first came out because my computer had 1.0. You should be able to find that out from the manufacturer of the card (I remember reading it on the box).
