HP7?

What in god's name made you think it's a children's movie? Pure assumption.

The whole collection of children's books they have out for Harry Potter... Would be kind of ignorant to spin off a whole bunch of children's book only to tell those same children, "But you can't watch the movies we're making about those books."...

I don't see Stephen King's books made into children's books, I think there is good reason behind that...

It would be like Aaron writing a new Tex Novel and then 6 months later him and CJ make the game, but tell us we can't play it...

Not to mention all the Toys they made for kids, all the clothes, among other things...

But then tell the kids that they can't watch the movies??? Any where you look, be it on Walmart to eBay all have Children or Kids in the description, and no they aren't talking about the characters...

So to answer your question, yes pure assumption tells me it is geared towards kids of about 10 years old and up through adults...

I've only seen the first one but my sister said she loved it (enough to ask me to go with her to see it a second time).

Without wanting to give away too much, the books get progressively darker as they go on, and JK Rowling described the 7th one as a bloodbath.

As it's the last book, a lot of main characters die by the end of it. Any kids who are fond of some of them might be a tad upset, but it could explain why the books also appeal to some adults too.

Baf? They're not children's books. They're just disguised as such to market to a wider audience. But I wouldn't let any child below the age of 12 read those things. They began innocently enough, but like it's been said. They get darker. And people die horrible deaths.

It's one thing to be 12 and read the first one and then reading the next ones as you grow older, eventually being what, 20-21-ish by the time the last book came out. My math might be off, who cares. The point is, now that all books are made, and all movies are almost done, a 12-year old might be okay with the first book or film in the series. Foisting upon a 12-year old the entire narrative as-is is a BAD idea, because the 12 year-old will still be 12 years old at the end of the bloodbath, while the 20 year-old has a better grasp of things.

THAT is why I don't believe them to be children's stories.

They have Special Editions of all 7 books marketed as Children's Edition...

Besides the Books came out a lot quick than just one every 15 months or so, which is about where your math ends up... Granted the movies took longer to come out...
So either way they shouldn't have tried to pull children in with stories like these by marketing it to them and then producing all the toys, clothing, costumes, etc, especially if it isn't okay for children to watch the later films...

Personally I haven't seen any of the movies yet... I'm waiting for all 8 films to be done and available, and then I'll purchase the entire collection and make a weekend of it... Nor have I read the books... Though when I get time I will borrow them from my father who already has them all...

But the marketing shouldn't have been done the way it was, which is why I was taken back by it all and assume that they are okay for children... Just look at everything out there for kids when it comes to Harry Potter and now parents have to tell the kids that they can't watch the movies or read the books??? That just isn't right...
