To the best fans in the world

As I sit here, waiting in the dark, the ghosts of some of the most wonderful
people all around me, some nervous, some nudging me gently, I felt the
need to speak out loud. I might just be talking to myself, here in the dark.
I might just be saying what I am saying, to no one who's interested.
But I just have to say it.
These 'fans' (and I'd like to count myself among them) are great people.
They are kind to others searching for help with the games about the
penultimate detective. They are kind to the ignorant, rumbling fool who's
never even tasted Bourbon or sat up late into the wee hours, running amok
inside own head trying to make it through another day.
These people some just call 'FANS', have carried on through these dim
days, hoping against hope, longing for just one day of relief from the
humdrum, the lack of what they know is the best damned guy who did the
best damned things.
He saved us all over and over without any hope of even being believed, let alone paid.
But, these 'FANS' of that guy, have made their own mark, without hope of pay.
I've watched them muddle about with the little they've gotten and made do, while
the whole time their hearts stumbled, yet again, but then went on.
It brings tears to my eyes to think how these FANS go on and on. I recently told
someone about THE UNOFFICIAL TEX MURPHY web site, and realized, these
people probably have kept this site viable and active on nothing but HOPE and
the dreams of what was.
Some sites have fallen by the wayside, and who can say a word about it? We all
know the true fans have been here for the long haul, pushing their own hope to the
back while diligently working to keep up the good fight.
GOG has helped with the steadily growing newbies who never did the early days'
run searching for help when walk throughs were new and/or hard to get.
We didn't actually want the walk throughs, since we had such a large community
of fellow travelers of the Tex games to mosh in, feeling the love and joy all
around us.
Once again, Tex was saving the day and everything was alright with the world.
While the Jell-o goes rancid I just want to say I love you guys, sad to say we're
'up there' with fans like those of The Chicago Cubs, et el.
I wish in my heart of hearts that I could say something else. I know, I would gladly
give up all the games I want to play that I KNOW are coming soon, for just one
more walk in that irradiated San Franciscan night.
How poetic.
