Duke Nukem Forever almost done - release date and trailer

For those of you who may not know, since 1998 (that's right, since my first year of secondary schooling, my first realisation that girls were not in fact yuck, onset of puberty etc etc...) I have been following the development of this game. Since then, I have completed secondary school, enrolled in three different University courses, one completed and one in the works while having started my very first time job and been with the same organisation for 7 years! Yet, 3D Realms (with the late collaboration of another studio following a near closure of the company) have finally got it together to develop and release ONE GAME!

Duke Nukem Forever is due May 3:

Naturally, I will be purchasing the game, it almost seems obligatory. Think of me as a Father watching my son/daughter going through school. I know the graduation may disappoint but I still have to go. Or at the same time it could be an autopsy: I have to know what or who killed it.

Truthfully, judging from the trailer, it looks like a fun game but definitely not delivering on the genre defining promises made repeatedly by 3DR. You can't argue I was asking too much, they've had so long to work on this. That's not to say it looks like a bad game, it looks great. But visually, it's nothing remarkably different from a game that has been released within the last 24 months. But the gameplay looks as though it builds on the interactivity of DN3D that made it so much fun.

The humour does seem a little dated and predictable though with the self-referential remarks made to development time in the trailer such as "did you think I was gone forever?!"

But I am looking forward to it. Now I just have to work out which platform I want to play on.
"Rest in pieces" was a pretty cool line.

BTW, forgive my ignorance when it comes to games (and most other things as well), but what do you mean by 'which platform to play it'?
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"

Well, it's being released on PC, XBOX and PS3 for now. From the said formats i'm a PC and PS3 man so i'm just trying to figure out which I should play it with. Is platform the right word? System just seemed too simplistic :D
If your talking about what kind of consol your gonna buy it for platform is the right term.

Never thougth this game was gonna be finnished, remember reading about back in the day, was a screenshot of a guy with a tentackle comming out of his chest too. Think it was gonna be finnished in 99 or somthing, bit late, no?

Now il buy this for the PC cause FPS on ps3 sucks imo.

I'm heavily inclined to go for PC too, mainly because that's what i've been waiting for all this time, a PC game. In fact, given the state of PC gaming, it could be my personal PC Gaming swan song :(

But my monitor is an oldie so it's a little dark, not as bright as some. I just cannot find a monitor I like. We'll see.
