Best and Worst of 2011 Movies
Starting up a thread to discuss this years films.
What I am Looking forward to:
Immortals - Henry Cavil is a great actor and I'm looking forward to seeing him in more films.
Hang Over 2
Tin Tin - really can't wait to see this one.
Brave New World (Riddley Scott) - Not sure if this'll see the light of day.
Conan - not sure about the lead actor, Schwatzenger is easily unbeatable as Conan.
Added to this Red Sonja if it gets made.
Cowboy Bebop (Keanu Reeves) - again not sure if this'll happen
Ghost in a Shell - again not sure if it'll happen, but it is Speilburg so who knows.
Ghostbusters 3 - Fat chance of it being released this year but would be cool
Prometheus - aka The New Aliens Movie
The Hobbit - a prequel to LOTR how could this fail?
Crank 3 - Crank 1 and 2 were awesome, and it just sucks about the anti-climatic ending of the second, so I'm looking forward to some closure.
The new Muppets film - If it does get made, it'll be good just to see the cast again. Love all the characters.
What I am NOT looking forward to:
Gnomeo and Juliet (its already out and is complete an utter FAIL)
Cars 2 - this film did not need a sequel, the first film was pretty conclusive, this is a blatant cash in.
Smufs - DEAR GOD.... I mean.. I can already see this being a horrible film just by the trailer, this will be much worse than Yogi Bear even.
Puss in Boots - Really Another forking Shrek movie.. Dreamworks fork you, you said the last one was the LAST.. This is worse than KISS' farewell tour LOL.
Breaking Dawn (or breaking wind as most will call it) - To be honest though, I secretly do want to see this film if only for how awful this will be, the book is so bad even the twilight fans hate it.
Alvin and the Chipmunks 3 - PLEASE JUST KILL IT ALREADY, how on earth did they turn Chipmunks into such a bullshit selfish moral? these films are terrible and we shouldn't be exposing children to such selfish stories.
District 10 - the first one was fine, continuing the story on seems to be a complete cash in.
Kick Ass 2 - again first film fine, continuing the story on is a cash in and will likely suck because the graphic novel pretty much ended at this point. We're relying on Holywood script writers people! this can't end well.
Neuromancer - William Gibson really dislikes the company involved with the film, and the film has been in production hell since in the late 1990s- I doubt this will get released, and if it does it'll likely be more awful than Jhonny Mnemonic (Which actually isn't that bad a film).
Stretch Armstrong - OMFG this might actually be a film where its soo bad that its actually good.
Last Airbender 2 - Honestly the first film was awful.. it's downhill from now on.
Big Mommas (already out) - Why? Why do these horrible films keep coming back?
So those are my picks. I'm a bit skeptic about Batman 3 coming out this year, if it does happen this year though then it'll be one of my picks as well for one that I am looking forward to (but am dreading Anne Hathaway as Cat Woman)

you know for some reason
with ALLL the work they put into AirBender
the more i complained about how bad it was
for some reason it became "decent" in my mind, lol i mean the storyline is so stupid, but the work done on it was not bad in terms of graphics, that i wouldn't mind seeing the resolution to the stupidity.
I think Hollywood banks on retrospective "overthinkers" like me, or something, haha

I agree, CS. The Last Airbender was a good story, a good idea, some good special FX, and some cool characters. So why do I agree with you? The movie left me flat and looking for something more definitive. We were glad we rented it instead of seeing it at the "pay-through-the-nose" theaters.
Will we watch the 2nd installment? Perhaps, but only via rental. I am hoping they will improve the desirability of this series.

"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
How can a disaster like The Last Airbender get a sequel?! I hate The Last Airbender solely because they refused to cast Asian actors for Asian characters in an Asian setting, thereby spitting on the source material and perpetuating the grand Hollywood tradition of screwing over Asian-American screen actors. Humph! Are they psychologically stuck in the mid-twentieth century, or something, back when non-Asian actors were routinely cast in Asian roles?! Too many human dinosaurs on this planet, if you ask me, and not enough extinction going on. *grumble* (To clarify, by "human dinosaurs," I'm referring, not to aged humans, but humans exhibiting obsolete behaviors.)
Forget The Last Airbender. The original Avatar: The Last Airbender TV cartoon series is still the superior experience. There's even a sequel series in the works, and visually, it's lookin' good!
Right now, I'm not looking forward to any 2011 movies. There's simply nothing that interests me. In fact, I've got a hunch I'm going to hate all 2011 movies. I am, however, currently looking forward to the upcoming 2012 Star Trek movie. It's gonna be hard to top the two hours of pure awesome that was the 2009 Star Trek movie, though.

You think that's funny, then think about how they cast Idris Elba as Heimdall in Thor. This would be the guy famous for portraying Stringer Bell in The Wire. Not that I have anything against black people or anything, but... WHY would you have a black person AT ALL in NORSE MYTHOLOGY!? There's no sense at all in it, it's done SOLELY for the token black guy political correctness Hollywood bullcrap.
The worst part about it is, the first people to react to this was the neo-nazis and white supremacists. And since NOBODY wants to be seen supporting those fun-filled groups of human waste, absolutely nobody else wanted to raise their voices in protest.
But hell, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Then again... meh. It's Marvel. Or rather, Disney's Marvel, now. Thor was never all that popular anyway, compared to the others.
I'll go finish reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman instead

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
