Tex Murphy Overseer Error in XP. HELP!!!!

Hi there.

I've been trying to install overseer on my windows xp, 32 bit home edition. I followed all the guidelines from various forums including this site itself to ensure the game is a success for a lovley man like me :P.

The error occurs straight after ted's office. Any item in the office I looked into, resulted in a windows error report. 'OVERSEER.EXE has encountered a problem and needs yo close. sorry for the inconvenience'.

I could not figure out why this is happening and tried retracing my steps to see if the error has gone away. I ended up with same error as before.

I'm dying to get this game working and still crying over spilt milk.

If you need further information, just reply below and I'll be happy to assist.
1. are you using the cd's or dvd.
2. have you set the compability on the exe file to win 98.
3. have you installed patch.

which guide have you been reading, the best guide is the cd to dvd installer.

Thanks for your thoughts, Had tried both the CD and DVD applied the patch, DVD express, and followed all the guide lines still to no avail. Also tried adjustments of Image, and modifying the ini file. Still no luck.
But now the peculiar twist to my long running saga of trying to get the game to run.
In desperation downloaded the GOG version. Thought I had cracked it but NO once again get to Tex's Office and using the mouse Gamed crashed as per previous. Had a silly thought and transferred the game to my Wife's Windows 7 Laptop thinking I was wasting my time. BUT found the game ran perfectly and am now passed the Anzec ruins without a problem.
Only problem I am left with is a domestic who is using the Laptop.

using the dvd is a complete waste of time as it has too many problems. Gog version is the cd,
overseer does not like multiprocessors & dual video cards.
