Last Episode left and then the Epilogue.

Some of my questions were answered, and I think some will be answered in this episode.
Then I can have a spoilerific discussion =)
Matt
wow you got there fast, be interested in your thoughts at the end

Ok, so I am done.

I enjoyed the journey, but hated how it ended.

The acting was good in the last episode, and it was well done, but what actually happened is what irritated me more than anything.

They died at the beginning???? seriously???

You can't pull something like that and be hinting at it throughout the series so obviously. It worked in the sixth sense because it wasn't obvious. They never once came out and said it.

It was like they couldn't decide whether to play that card or not. They are dead, they are not dead and it was a hoax.... the island is hell, no, Richard is crazy. It seems like they were deciding to end the show, and couldn't figure out a good way to do it so they just did that. Nevermind that doing that makes tons of things that happened before completely pointless and not make any sense.

And then the epilogue. Well that would have been great had they not played the dead card.
This epilogues makes it seem it explains things on the island as if it wasn't some imaginary place. What the heck was the point of the Dharma initiative???? Were they dead too??? If so, how did they get there??? Or were they all just made up?? Why the time traveling? I mean I liked that part, but it seems like it was just put there to make a season when you look at it in the context that everyone was already dead.

And how did they manage to change anything and make an alternate reality if in that reality they never would have gone to the island in the first place because it was at the bottom of the ocean, to even bring about the explosion that changed the future. Of course if they are all dead, that kind of explains it all away in that it doesn't even need to make sense.

And what about that Box that Ben was talking about that can bring anything you want ie Locke's dad. Umm.... we never see it or hear about it again...

Not sure why the flashes started because they left the island with the time travel. I thought moving the island is what did it.... they seem to change their explanation as the show went on.

Noticed one there thing.... Eloise Hawking and Daniel Faraday.... (both references to famous physicist's)

What else.... not pushing the button crashed the first plan.... why did it just happen on the flight to GUAM??

Why did Locke moving the wheel stop the flashes?... I thought everyone had to come back?? including Walt.... He seemed to mostly just have been written out of the show because of his age. They never explained much with his psychic powers either.

I don't know. Maybe I am just missing something here. Maybe I didn't understand it, but the shot of the plan crash during the ending credits made it pretty obvious they all died in the first episode.

Can someone also explain to me how the epilogue fits into all this?

Final words... I loved the show.. but i think it ended very cliched even though it was delivered really well.
Matt
Sorry one more thing....

They don't really explain the point of the black smoke in the context that the island was an in between world people go before they move on.
Matt
well matt you really need to go back & rewatch,

to start the island was real, everything that happened was real.

replay the conversation in the church between jack & his father.

I have an article for you to read that might help understand, its called "they were not dead"

THANK YOU!!!

I feel much better now about how it ended.

And the Epilogue makes sense now.

How they explained it is exactly how I said would have been a good ending.

I just got thrown off by the plane in the end credits. I interpreted it how they said it until they showed that plane.

I feel much more at ease now =)

My wife needs to read that article.
Matt
My wife still didn't read the article.

She doesn't want to.

Her point is that she shouldn't have to in order to make sense of it.
I see her point.

I think they could have executed the ending just a little bit differently to make it clearer.

The conversation with Jack's dad could have been a little longer and maybe something else along with the plane shot might have made it a bit more clearer as well.

Ah well. After reading the article, I am fairly satisfied with it.
Matt
you are not alone there, I remember jim's wife didn't understand it either, so I posted something in the old lost thread here.

There are still a couple of things that are never explained.... maybe you can shed some light.

I think I mentioned them before.

1.... what happened with Walt's super powers...
I read somewhere they just wrote him out of the story because he could not pass as a 10 year old kid anymore....
This seems like the most likely answer.

and 2.
How the heck did Locke's father end up on the island and why.... what the heck was the story with the box that can bring anything you ask to the island. Any ideas with this one ????
Matt
well lock's father was in a staged accident & was put into an ambulance thats how he got there .
" why did they bring him to the island" well I think it was all to do with lock proving himself that he could kill his father for the leadership. When lock couldn't do it thats when richard gave him the file on sawyer so he would do it.

"walt powers" well I don't know. One could say he only had the powers on the island but then we saw the incident with the bird while he mother was alive.

I did read that michael was a bit upset that they brought him back into lost only to die.

That makes sense.

So essentially Ben made up the whole box thing to manipulate Locke.

That works for me =)
Matt
I hope your are enjoying our own personal thread....LOL
