How to get More Pledges
Exactly. Paypal isn't like Amazon where they can hold processing unless it succeeds.Bjyman wrote:I'm not sure I understand why having PayPal is contingent on meeting the goal. I suspect it may have to do with processing fees on refunds that would be expected to happen if the Kickstarter goal is not met.
The place I always did my live broadcasts from was blogTV. Generally there's next to no lag (or very little). Another place to broadcast from is livestream.
Now, with BlogTV there's a 150 person cap per chat room, then it throws you into "waiting rooms". However, this is not a terribly big deal because the broadcaster can switch from room to room without issue. The idea behind this is to cut down on the chat messages from just scrolling like mad from 1000 people all trying to send a message at the same time. I've always found BlogTV to be the best place to do a live broadcast.
Livestream has a few very nice built in features. Actually quite a few. The last time I used Livestream I did have a lag issue. In fact as a broadcaster it was annoying because you're looking at yourself in the past due to the lag. However, there's no waiting rooms, but as mentioned above...this can be an issue if you have a ton of people all in at once in the same chat area.
My best suggestion would be blogTV for overall functionality.

I think Twitch TV would be great as it is focused on gaming and has no viewer limit for free channels. They simply seem to let channels grow and when they get consistently big, pulling in 100s or 1000s regularly then they invite those people to their partnership program to expand profits both for them and the person streaming.
Livestream has a limit of 50 people for free accounts and as you say BlogTV has it set at 150. There was a brief time when Twitch did the "separate rooms" thing but it was very unpopular as it meant people couldn't feel all incorporated in one discussion. Questions might get repeated a lot if 1 chat can't see what the other is saying. Though it was pretty funny when some broadcasters showed all the different chatrooms on stream (by capturing the windows) and each chatroom would jokingly compete or berate the other.
If a chat gets too fast to handle then Twitch has "Slow Mode" that can be turned on where each person is restricted to sending one message a minute. The length of time can apparrently be changed with the command /slow #interval
Just my 2 cents though. I know other Kickstarters have successfully used other sites. There is Ustream too.
