Where Can I get DVD Express Software
Yes I know the DVD doesn't work very well and it crashes a lot But I want to try it out before switching to the CD's
I've got a Win 7 64 bit OS and I've copied the game files to the PC and got the game running with midi but I cant seem to find the install for DVD express anywhere. I tried the link to Nilos site but its no longer working. Is the install one of the ones on the DVD itself that wont run under Win7?
I know no ones got Overseer working on Win 7 before but I'm close and would like to try. I just need the DVD express installer.
I Hope someone can help. The Kickstarter has got me all fired up to play Tex again.

AFAIK the real problem won't be the dvd software. On my XP and Vista the dvd version has some problematic crash (due to a bug with memory management) on certain scenes (i.e. the ladder one). I know it 'coz I was working on an updated executable for TM:O to get rid of memory and playback problems on newer OS. The patch's not complete yet, but I think I'll release it in the next months. It should contain some fixes (memory errors, fix of old win16 codes, midi audio without compatibility mode etc.) and a revamped video playback with DirectX, no more need for strange codecs and configuration
Would I be able to run the DVD version of Overseer on Win7 then?gufino2 wrote:AFAIK the real problem won't be the dvd software. Are you gonna upload this patch?
Would be awesome. thanks.
DVD Express is no longer having updates added to it, so it is very unlikely that you will be able to run the DVD version of the game in a Windows 7 operating system... Your best chance is to build a computer and use Windows 95 or 98 and then go find DVD Express... You can just type DVD Express Software in Google and I'm sure you'll be able to find it... But even with the optimum computer setup, you are still going to encounter problems...
The Patch you're speaking of can be found in various places around the web... But you can find it right here on this website, just go up to Downloads and go to Patches and Utilities... It's in there...

Nope I cant find DVD express. That's my problem. If some one can find me a link or can host a copy of it, I will try it on Win7 and if it doesn't work I will switch to VM ware, but I'm still going to need DVD Express to run the DVD version. I just need a link to the software, All the links I've found are long dead and Google has come up dry for me.

It's been so long, I can't even remember the proper name for it, was it all together like DVDExpress or was there a Space like DVD Express or was it DVD Xpress???
It's a real shame Nilo's Site is no longer up, he still had all that stuff right there on his website...
You know you could try using a Peer-to-Peer program like WinMX or something similar and see if you can't get lucky and find someone out there who has it and is sharing it...
I haven't a clue if any of these are it or not, probably a fair chance they aren't, but these are the best I could find... I haven't messed with DVD Express in so long that I can't even remember the proper spelling of the name for the software...

Unfortunately the first two links are just upgrades that need the full software installed first. The second requires you to download driver detective which is malware. I think unless some one actually has a copy of the software they can upload its not available on the net any more.

The only other thing you can do is use a Peer-to-Peer program, maybe like WinMX and hope someone is holding onto it for whatever reason and you're able to grab it from them...
Even with DVD Express the game still had issues and errors... I can't think of reading anything where anyone got it running completely error/glitch free... It was a rushed and botched project thanks to Microsoft... And I think that it is because of the DVD Failure that made people shaking on giving the funding to continue the series... That and the drop off of FMV because of several badly done games...
